Long story short: really angry member of staff tried to pick a fight with me?
A group of 8 of us were there for drinks and food sitting outside - however they only served very basic toasted sandwiches so three of the eight of us with dietary restrictions went to the burrito place directly next door, got food and brought it back to our outside table. We were told we couldn't eat it there so we got up and ate it standing on the street. Another member of staff came out and told us we would have to leave because he was giving out table away despite us being in a group. We told him we would be back sitting down in 2 mins and he told us we should have bought food from them. When i told him there werent any vegan menu options he got angry at me and told me that i could have had a toasted sandwich. I asked him what vegan sandwiches they had he angrily told me that bread is vegan and i could have a toasted salad sandwich with no butter. He was so rude to us despite us literally leaving the table for 5 minutes just to eat while the rest of a group were still there. It felt like he just wanted to pick a fight. We were so uncomfortable we left, which i suppose is what he wanted? I had ordered a drink and we had been planning on staying there the whole night so it felt really uncomfortable to be made to leave like that. I understand someone can be having a bad day, but I was really upset afterwards, and this is a pub I would have gone into when I was in town. When we were leaving he was standing outside complaining to colleagues about us as though he was talking about a physical fight, the whole thing was so uncomfortable. When my boyfriend went back to tell another member of staff what had happened, just so they'd be aware, the other member of staff said that we should have just ordered a non-vegan menu option, which...
Read moreWent to Peter’s Pub for a drink with my parents and brother today. Me and my brother had a slice of pizza from a nearby pizza place. We were sitting at an outside table when a male staff member told us that we couldn’t eat the pizza as they serve food in the pub. This was a totally reasonable rule and we apologised immediately as we didn’t know they served food (no menus on tables and nobody eating food, later learned that they only serve sandwiches/salads). The staff member left and came back one minute later as I was putting the last of the slice in my mouth. The staff member said very aggressively “I don’t think you understood what I said. I told you you can’t eat your pizza here”. We apologised again and I tried to quickly shove the last bit of pizza into my mouth. I’m not sure what he wanted me to do as we had already apologised and I was finishing the slice as quickly as I could. The staff member, who clearly had a bee in his bonnet at this point, then came back a third time and told my 65yr old Dad that he couldn’t sit on the stool he was sitting on as there were no stools allowed outside. The staff member was extremely rude and hostile towards us, despite the fact that we had apologised multiple times. My parents have been drinking in this pub for years but have agreed that they won’t be back. The treatment we received is clearly standard in this pub judging from the rest of the reviews. I would avoid this pub as the staff are very hostile and clearly don’t know how to treat people with basic respect...
Read morePeter's Pub is a small, intimate unpretentious bar. No TV, no music, just a genuine Irish bar with super, friendly professional staff. Led by the indomitable Robert, the commander in chief and full attendee to the customers needs. Added ably by smiling Adam, never short of a witty remark to make the customer at ease A pub for someone who appreciates what Irish pubs used to be. Was back again for the Paddy's weekend. We got talking to three lovely girls from Edinburgh who were only over for the day, going back that night. They were really enjoying themselves and one was singing, quietly, and I joined in. The barman, who was incredibly ignorant, came over and said stop , which we did. How he could hear over the noise of people talking was incredible. One of the girls went up to order more drinks and was refused. ( they were not drunk). She asked for a glass of water for her friend who was feeling the worse for the day. IT WAS PADDY'S WEEKEND...She was refused that as well. Now if you sell alcohol beverages, YOU CANNOT REFUSE FREE WATER. THATS THE LAW. So I went up and asked for a glass of water. Mr Personality asked who was it for? Myself I said. He reluctantly gave it to me. I went back and when the Git went around the corner, gave it to the girl. She drank half a pint of it it in one go. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR FROM THE PUB. AVOID...
