Pizza Express — Restaurant in Amalfi

We ate here spontaneously when we arrived in Amalfi. It might not come as a shock but Amalfi is very turisty and many places seems to have the reputation of being expensive, overrated and not so authentic. In desperation we found this one in a small alley and it gave us a positive surprise. They have mostly takeaways but you can sit there but they have 2-3 simple plastic tables so it's very simple and the restaurant is doing 90% take away i would say. So to the pizza. Probably the cheapest place in Amalfi to have pizza🍕. Many options of pizza, freshly made, you can actually see how they do it from scratch, and they are so good, really delicious. The store is tiny, only for takeaway, although they have three small wooden tables on the street where you can eat your stuff. They also sell a small variety of canned or bottled drinks. The owner is really nice and they have everything ready in less than 5 minutes. Ho soggiornato con mia moglie ad Amalfi per 15 giorni a Luglio 2024 e ho avuto modo di conoscere diversi locali e pizzerie ma alla fine il mio cuore e la mia gola sono stati conquistati da questo piccolo locale chiamato Pizza Express che fà pizze, piadine e panini di tutti i tipi e in generale cibo da asporto. Il locale si trova nella via principale del centro storico di Amalfi precisamente sul lato destro andando in sú di Via Pietro Capuano, poco prima della fontana del presepe. Appena entrato la prima volta mi hanno accolto una ragazza e un ragazzo simpaticissimi e gentili con gli occhi pieni di passione per il loro lavoro, cosa confermata dai discorsi fatti in seguito riguardo alla preparazione della pizza. Penso che sia la pizza più buona che ho mai mangiato nella vita e di pizze nella vita ne ho mangiate tante, ma l'impasto che fanno loro è alto come vuole la tradizione napoletana ma allo stesso tempo sembra di mangiare una nuvola. Da loro abbiamo assaggiato la Marinara, la Margherita, la 4 formaggi, la Nerano e la Nerano con le patate ( variante che ci hanno proposto loro perché pensavano che ci sarebbe piaciuta e avevano ragione) tutte molto ricche di ingredienti e  buonissime e a un prezzo davvero economico per essere nel centro di Amalfi dove tutto è molto caro. Erano tutte davvero buone ma quella che c'è piaciuta di più è la Nerano e infatti l'ultima settimana ci siamo presi una Nerano a sera sapendo che poi una pizza così buona non l'avremmo più mangiata per un po' di anni sino a ché non ritorneremo ad Amalfi. Un'altra nota positiva al locale è che fanno davvero onore al nome Pizza Express in quanto sono velocissimi a fare le pizze e che hanno pizze anche per vegetariani e vegani cosa...
