I hate giving bad reviews, but I need to warn people about this restaurant in Bolzano. Firstly, I don’t understand how the rating is so high and how the restaurant is so crowded. Have people never eaten Italian food before? Other than the server being nice everything else was a complete miss. Let’s forget that they served the wrong dish (if it was good, I’d be happy anyway). I ordered walnut pesto with gnocchi. I was served risotto with pesto some Genovese drizzle. The rice was completely dry and the pesto tasted metallic, like it came from a supermarket jar! Inedible. The arrabbiata was ok, but the pasta quality was like cardboard… had to be the cheapest pasta imaginable. I don’t have high expectations for house wine, but this was not drinkable. Read moreVery very disappointing. Service was horrible! They forgot to place our order, and after 1 hour of waiting .. they just came and say “sorry we forgot to place your order, you want us to start cooking now or you gonna leave?” REALLY?! It’s 22 pm, we are in the city where everything closes at 22.. so we ordered, and food came finally.. anyway that was not worth to wait. Everything is veeery ok. The fish was overcooked, and when my friend said that, to one of the lady - she gave us very unpleasant look and said “well if that seems overcooked and dry too you..” rolling her eyes. Well fish that drown in the olive oil is not jiucy fish! It’s OILIE FISH!! Never...
Read moreWe happened to walk by Trattoria Figlio D’Orio in Olzano and decided to swing by – what a fantastic surprise. This place is completely underrated. The food is no-nonsense: straightforward, homemade, and absolutely delicious. I had the ragu pasta and the tiramisu, both of which were outstanding – simple, honest cooking done right. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, and you can tell they take real pride in what they serve.
The trattoria fills up quickly, so either book ahead or come right when they open. A super nice find – highly recommended if you want real Italian food...
