Antica Cagliari Ristorante — Restaurant in Cagliari

The food was really tasty and that was about the only good thing to say about this restaurant. The service however, was unfortunately appalling. We didn’t get served our main course - which was our only course, until 50 minutes later. In this time, other customers that had sat down after us had been served and eaten two courses. It was really clear that we were the only table that hadn’t had their food yet and the waiters failed to notice or even worse, chose not to notice. After our mains had come out after they’d clearly forgotten or didn’t put the order through, we thought we’d be brave to then order dessert. We had to wait for a further 25-30 minutes for this. As soon as the dessert had arrived we asked for the bill in fear that it will take another 30 minutes for it to arrive. Of course, the bill was never brought out after 10 minutes of waiting to we walked up the the till to pay and even then we were standing there for at least 5 minutes before we actually got to pay.

Can’t help but feel that the only reason we received such poor service was because we weren’t natives ie Italian. We felt that the waiters actively chose to not serve us as their English was limited, although this isn’t to say that it was poor as they were able to understand our order each time. Such a shame because it was a lovely restaurant for food, but received terrible service probably due to the fact that we were British. We were also sat on a table where it was quite central to where the waiting staff kept walking past so there was no excuse for the service. For us it was a Happy Return after 3 years because of Covid Lockdown and connected problems.

Again we got a table in the cellar or Souterrain.

But you also can sit outside.

Plenty of the staff is the same like years ago.

We got served by Melania, who again made a perfect job!

Fast we got the menu and she took the orders.

At once we got fresh bread (rolls). In addition we ordered some butter which also was served.

It is necessary to mention that the prices are the same like years before! Where can you find it? It is necessary to pay the Management big compliments for this. The Ristorante is also offering a big choice of Wines at very fair prices as well.

I ordered half a bottle of White Wine " Costamolino" (Vermentino) charged with 9 €.

It was served with the correct temperature in a Bucket with ice cubes.

Then we ordered Pasta with VONGOLE and Bottarga (15 €).

The taste was very good.

I also ordered Beef Filet in Pepper Mustard Sauce (20 €). It was of good quality and well prepared!

As Extras you can order vegetable.

I have ordered roasted potatoes (4 €).

COPERTO is charged with 2,50 € per Person.

Wifi (Internet) is not working in the Souterrain/Cellar!

Creditcards are accepted.

You need to go to the desk next to the entrance.

I can highly recommend...

After reading so much good reviews about this place, we have mixed feelings after our visit last night,which is why we want to give 3 and 1/2 stars for last night's performances.

First of all, the service was 5 star worthy! Everybody has been very friendly, attentive and helpful.

The quality of the food however was very mixed. We ordered two starters, octopus salad and ham & melon, which were decent, but not spectacular. Especially the octopus salad was nothing special with no herbs (besides two leaves of parsley) or any kind seasoning which would make it memorable.

The second course was Fregola ai Crostacei, and the Fregola were not cooked long enough and almost to hard to eat. There were some pieces of lobster in it but with no cutlery for it (which was brought by one of the waiters later on) and it was almost cold when it came.

The second main dish was gilthead and filet, and both of the dishes came without sides, although we ordered rosemary potatoes. They were brought when we were almost finished with the fish/steak.

However, both the quality of the fish and the filet were very good.

The cafe we had to finish of the meal was not very good and it tasted as if the mashine has not been properly cleaned in a long time, which was a bit of a disappointment, given the fact that you can get very good cafe virtually...
