We went here tired, straight from the plane at 9pm on a Wednesday night in December, just as the locals were filling up the place. The service was initially slow, we didn't see a menu but were initially too exhausted to put up a fight, and just went with the flow. The waiting staff were rushed off their feet with everything seemingly chaotic. But when the food did arrive, it just kept on coming. You could dine out three times on the quantity (you can ask for a doggy bag "pacetto" for any leftovers if you're so inclined). It was all local specialities and all excellent quality. The fried baby pig's brains with courgette and the smoked goat ricotta were especially memorable. One of our group had a nickel allergy that they were able to accommodate. Some of the groups were a bit raucous, but infectious, with the whole restaurant occasionally joining in the songs (it seems some of the lyrics were rather crude, but hay-ho, we were none the wiser at the time). If you’re only into fine dining and microscopic portions this may not be for you, but for us, the excellent local food and local cultural immersion made this one of our top dining experiences of the year. And all for 25 Euro a head including house wine. Su Combidu translates something like “the invitation”, and it felt like one. Hints: eat late like the locals, choose the set menu, pace yourself, go with the flow, join...
Read moreI went to eat there with my friend and I wanted to try porceddu for the first time and it was not only tasteless but not even hot enough. The potatoes were really bad too and even the table next to us sent their porceddu back. I tried and ate half of it cause I felt bad for the piglet, to be absolutely honest with you and my friend couldn’t finish her fregola cause it felt like it was just warmed up. The salad we got to share was dry and tasteless too. Only the wine was good, we were very disappointed. And the worst part is that when we went to pay and asked for a discount they almost told us off that we had touched our food or that we had to tell them earlier and stuff like that. We only got to pay half of the porceddu, all the rest that we barely touched we had to pay. Restaurants can have bad days and I wouldn’t write anything here if it was just about the food, but the fact that as a customer I was disappointed and barely touched my food and the service wanted me to pay full price was my...
Read moreQuite frankly, don't bother coming here and don't bother waiting in line. It's not worth it.
The waiters were rushing around, being sloppy and were overwhelmed by the people dining in. The food is mediocre at most. We had a cold cut meat platter as a starter which took 30min to arrive and looked like as if no one bothered to prepare it nicely, although it tasted alright. The main dishes arrived another half an hour later and the roasted beef with the grilled vegetables were bland and cold. The sardinian roasted pork with roasted potatoes was overly salty. We sent back the roasted beef with our complaint and the waiter responded that he's sorry for our loss in appetite, instead of offering an alternative or listening to the criticism. Despite sending the roasted beef back after trying only a snippet, the restaurant was insistent on us paying for it.
I’d suggest going up the road, past this restaurant, where you'll find many more restaurants with better reviews and more...
