Coloniàl — Restaurant in Cagliari

My wife and I went here for lunch upon arriving in Cagliari. It was a bit late, just after 14h00, so we asked (in Italian) if it was still possible to have lunch. We were told no problem and we're seated. The waitress was unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The food was great, but it was impossible to get her attention for drinks, coffee, etc. We were completely ignored. When it came time to pay our bill of 45€, it said 95€ on the machine. I'll give her the benefit of doubt, but luckily I noticed her error before inputting my PIN. It's too bad we weren't treated very well as we stayed nearby and ate at the other restaurants with incredible service on several occasions. I go to Colonial at Palazzo Doglio quite often, especially for their great business lunch deal — it’s perfect for a quick but quality bite between university lectures. The menu outside the lunch offer is also really interesting, with a creative mix of tapas and Mexican-inspired dishes. The decor is unique and stylish, with colonial-style touches, palm prints, and animal patterns that give the place a relaxed yet chic vibe. It’s also a great spot for aperitivos or casual dinners with friends. Staff is generally okay, nothing over the top, but the service does the job. Lots of wait staff walking around but quite inattentive to guests. Waited to order. We actually had to ask if we can order. Ordered drinks and water. Food came. Then drinks came. Water was forgotten. Until we asked for Il conto, no one even stopped by our table to ask the basic questions!!?? How is your dinner? Can I get you anything? Nothing. We felt like furniture in Colonial. Some simple and casual diners anywhere in the world have better service skills or manners. There are plenty of places to eat in Cagliari. GO THERE INSTEAD!!
