Bottiglieria del Popolo is a lovely addition to the Cagliari dining scene, and many compliments go to the owners who, after years abroad, had the courage to return home and bring their vision to life. The food is tasty, well presented, and thoughtfully varied. From the delicate tartare to the ravioli, the generous sandwich, and the fried sage, every dish was well executed and portioned just right.
The wine list is wide-ranging and interesting, leaning heavily on international labels. While it’s certainly enjoyable, it would be wonderful to see more local Sardinian wines highlighted and championed, since the island offers so much richness.
The main downside, unfortunately, was the environment. The restaurant was excessively noisy and unbearably hot. With the open kitchen overlooking the dining room, the heat builds up quickly, and without stronger air conditioning or sound-absorbing panels, it makes the otherwise excellent meal harder to enjoy fully. Read moreDuring our visit to Cagliari we spent a particularly beautiful evening at Bottiglieria del Popolo. The owners‘ love to detail is immediately noticeable - not just in the interior but also in the selection of wine and food! The food is a mix of traditional Italian dishes with a modern twist making them orginial while still them comfort food liked by everyone. The reginette al ragù were to die for and my absolute favorite dish on the menu! Dishes are great to share and available in different sizes so everyone can try everything and the owners have a broad selection of wine so they can cater to everyone‘s taste - using mainly small wineries and family business to keep the selection of wines unique and affordable. We were able to try a selection of different wines by glass without the need to purchase a full bottle. All in all the perfect evening with great wine, amazing food and nice company!...

They were very attentive when I was the only customer. However, when others came to the restaurant they stopped coming over. The portions are not worth the price. The salad, which was a “large” was the size of my fist. When it came out the server went to the chef and spoke about it for several minutes. It seems like they prefer servicing the largest party vs individuals. They sometimes have gluten free options but they are not made locally at...
