This is the worst meal we’ve had during our como trip and we encountered the rudest waitress (not Valeria, the short hair one) in all six of our trips to Italy.
We only ended up here as the restaurant we wanted to go to wasn’t open and it was cold. The macchiato I ordered was barely warm. We asked whether it’s possible to make it hotter. The waitress said “you wanted it hot?”, took the cup away and came back with one which is so hot that I had to wait for 10 minutes before it stops burning my hands. All the “thank you” we said upon receiving food and drink were met with a silence, there’s no eye contact, no smile, no “you are welcome”. When a couple with baby trolley came in, the waitress moved some chairs aside to make room for them. However, there was no “excuse me, I’m afraid I’ll need to move these chairs for these guests”, she simply pushed the chairs into my legs which hit my knees hard twice, without acknowledging it. When we finally had enough of her poor attitude and confronted her, she said “well sorry” (in a sorry but not sorry way) and stormed off!?
Whoever the owner is should seriously reconsider this poor hire. This lady clearly takes no pride of her job, has an attitude to do the bare minimum and abuses the little power she has without consideration of the customers, the reputation of the place or the good work of her colleagues. We will now associate this restautant with the horrible services we received from her and it is the people like her who ruins a business.
On the food, the salad I ordered was fresh and tasty. However, the beef stew my husband ordered looked like prison food and had no taste. The guy who worked at the meat counter is upbeat and courteous. The other waitress Valeria was pleasant. Interestingly enough, they both apologised for the other waitress’ behaviour who’s clearly the liability rather than asset of this restaurant.
Overall it’s a visit one could easily miss for...
Read moreMe and my family decided to eat here twice on our holiday. Both my mother and I agreed that they served the best Pizza we had ever eaten- La Vegetariana. My sister said that her Pasta dish was also the best that she had ever had in terms of Pasta dishes (a seafood pasta, I can't remember the name). We were truly taken aback by just how incredibly good the food was. The wine was superb, and so smooth. I'm not a wine person, but I could tell that it was high quality and unlike any wine I've tasted before. Really lovely. The staff were also absolutely 10/10 and we were so happy with them. They initially helped us seat & dine a party of 10 at the last minute, and were so attentive and excellent with us the whole time. We had several vegetarians & special dietary requirements that restaurants normally struggle with, but the staff were unphased and adapted with an unflinching professionalism & obvious skill that shows great confidence in themselves & their kitchen. If you are visiting Como, this is a place that you must eat. I cannot recommend it highly enough: ...

I recently visited Il Vicolino del Paninao in Como Town and found the experience disappointing. The sandwiches, although not terrible, were unremarkable, and the service was surprisingly slow, considering the minimal preparation time required for such dishes.
The most disconcerting aspect of the €60 lunch, however, was the manner in which our server approached us. Merely five minutes after our plates had been cleared, she returned with the bill, stating in a tasteless manner that we needed to leave. The unwarranted urgency and insensitivity displayed by the server were particularly off-putting, especially considering the numerous empty tables surrounding us.
With the combination of overpriced mediocre food and unpalatable service at Il Vicolino del Paninao leaves much to be desired. I sincerely hope that the management will address these concerns to enhance the overall dining experience. Don’t recommend! Go somewhere else that values...
