I had a fantastic experience at Caffè Petrarca! The service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The drinks and sweets they offer are top-notch; I couldn't get enough of their delicious treats. In particular, the eclair was a standout – absolutely amazing! It's a cozy and inviting place where you can enjoy quality food and beverages with a smile. I highly recommend Caffè Petrarca for a delightful dining experience.

It’s definitely a local place. Lots of simple tables in the second room - just after the shop - make this place look a bit like canteen. But the food is tasty and service is great. I tried tortellini and cakes, and they were very nice. This cafe is not touristic despite being located just at the entrance to the historical center, but it’s very popular among locals and often crowded.

So happy to find this place when we were waiting at Porta Romana for our to gather. Open early when all the other places were closed, which helped. Nice clean organized interior. Gets busy quick. Great food selections to grab a quick bite. Nice espressos. Definitely recommend!

PRICE SHOCK - TOURISTS ONLY I have lived in Florence for 3 years and this was THE most expensive food vs. quality experience I’ve had in Italy … clearly they survive on overcharging tourists. I was charging my electric car around the corner and happened upon this place which is a bar but … is priced like some of the best restaurants in the city. I had a small, lukewarm, reheated and uninspired parmigiana with a clump of cold spinachi salati with nearly no flavour, a glass of house red and a small bottle of water, and a huge slice of cheesecake (after asking for a tiny slice) that I ate less than half of. €24!!! Save your money. This is literally one of the worst priced bars...

Don't be fooled by the Facebook page (July 2025) that is represented at Cafe Petrarca (FI)...it is the page of the former owners and the Cafe IS NOT CLOSED. In fact, they have amazing hours! And good food...wonderful source of a good salad, if you're looking for it. But their menu offers a lot of other choices. The food is good and the service is great. And they have remodeled and upgraded the garden in the back. The space is a little more neon than my taste, but it is nice as a "clean, well-lighted space" in a modern style...well done for its choice of design. I've eaten there...

Great traditional cafe, lunches, light evening meals, coffee, cakes and ice cream as well as beer and a bar. Plenty of seating in air conditioned back. Fantastic atmosphere, everything in Italian (as it should be) but staff extremely friendly and happy to cope with poorly pronounced Italian, English and pointing 🙄Excellent value, food and coffee consistently of a very high standard. Clean toilet facilities, just ask for the key at the bar (which everyone does in both Italian...
