Wanted a sandwich for lunch and this place was relatively close so we walked in. It has a real authentic feel as soon as you walk in. The small place, the disorganized look, the regular costumers who sit in and eat, the neighboring workers who come in for their regular sandwich, all of that makes you feel like "this is not a tourist trap. This is the real deal!". And it is!! A small oven heats the focaccia for the sandwich, while the guy cuts the meat on the not so sharp meat slicer. Some cheese, or a spread, or some veggies, or a combination of them, and that's it. That's all you need to make a great sandwich. We got the capocollo with walnuts, and the bacon with the arugula, both come with cheese. The capocollo had a great flavor, the cheese gave it the creamyness, and the walnuts gave the crunch. Perfect combination! The bacon (fresh) was a good match to the cheese and the arugula gave it the fresh peppery kick it needs. Amazing combination! 2 sandwiches and 2 bottles of water for €12 makes it a great value for money, and definitely a place for a...
Read moreWow, all I can say is this Da’ Vinattieri serves authentic sandwiches, with value for money and feels nothing like a tourist trap, unlike most of the other sandwich shops. We got the pancetta with melted cheese and salad on the schiacciata bread, alongside the spicy tripe which comes served in a crispy bread roll, a bottle of water and a glass of Chianti for €14.50, unbelievable value.
Both sandwiches were delicious, fresh and filling with quality ingredients - these sandwiches are good because of their simplicity, do not compare to places like All’ Antico Vinaio who just pile mounds of ingredients into a sandwich and charge you triple the price. Don’t expect to sit, the seating is limited to four chairs at a bar but there is plenty of standing space in the alley outside and arch to cover you if it is raining. The sandwiches are also really easy to eat on the go.
Many thanks also to our server was pleasant and professional. You really rounded out the experience - thank you, I will be back for the Porchetta and Truffle...
Read moreFirst time visiting Florence and couldn’t leave without trying the traditional street food, “tripe” panino. Basically, it consists of boiled cow’s stomach that is chopped up and seasoned, bunged between bread. We ordered two of them. The first with a green sauce (I think it’s called verde and has garlic and parsley in it) and the second with a tomato sauce which we accompanied with chilli (great for those who love spicy dishes). Both of them were very tasteful and even though the employee couldn’t speak English well, he did his best to explain the menu to us and help us choose what to eat. Last but not least, it must have been the most budget friendly food we ate in Italy. We definitely recommend this for a true street food experience in Florence and next time we’ll also try one of the other panini offered there. Four stars because we don’t have a comparison measurement...
