We had the most amazing dinner at Osteria del Porcellino. Everything was exquisite…The food was delicious, the drinks were Devine, the service was the best we’ve had in all of Italy. We were celebrating our 25 anniversary and Maria the owner gave us a wonderful table tucked away by the window looking onto the street…our Waiter Genaro (I hope I’m spelling his name correctly) immediately brought us some complimentary Prosecco to start off then he was so helpful with picking the perfect wine to compliment the Bistecca al Fiorentine. It was a wonderful 2019 Antinori Chianti Classico Reserva which was so robust, and only got better and better as our dinner progressed. The bistecca was some of the best meat we’ve ever tasted (and we’ve had steak at some of the best steakhouse in the US). There’s a texture and flavor to Florentine steak that can’t be found anywhere else…I will dream of that meat until we return (Hopefully soon!). After the meal Genaro brought us some incredible tiramisu and the almond biscotti with the traditional Florentine VinSanto dessert wine which again was out of this world. We honestly could not have dreamed of a more perfect last night in Florence and to celebrate our anniversary together. For the entire meal with bistecca for 2, a beautiful top rated Chianti, a mixed salad to start plus desserts and aperitifs we spent only $130 total. That meal would be at least $300 in NYC not including tax or tip. Grazie Mille Maria è Genaro and everyone at Osteria del Pocellino. We will definitely be back…hopefully soon!

We came here twice during the five days we spent in the Firenze area. The food is great! Place is clean and the staff is nice and mannered. During our two visits we had a few of the dishes and we were never disappointed. Fiori di zucca: delicious if you are a fan of anchovies like me Carpaccio di pesce: the best sword fish ever! Pastas: lasagna (x2), paccheri con pomodoro, spaghetti con vontole all delicious! Meat: grilled lamb, peposo di manzo all Soo good and well seasoned. We had the house Chianti and also the Santa Cristina ... Both really good! It is not "touristy" and the prices are reasonable. I strongly recommend this place if you want a real meal with Tuscan flavor.

The wait staff was great as was the place. Inside or outside seating is available so, we decided that the night was warm and ate out. Good for us. All dressed up in Medieval costumes came the Easter parade. Down one street and up the next. Our appetizers arrived. Beautiful antipasto dish and a wonderful cheese and "stuff" dish. Of course wine and both types of water were brought out, too. Next came the primi servings. Two types of pasta and fried baby artichokes. Yummy. We made quick work of this. Now ... the secondies- huge steaks. 1kg each. 2 of them. Roast potatoes and salads. Oh man. Cooked just right. You CANNOT miss this place!

Good atmosphere. Very well done pastas. But this is where things start going down hill…. The mains were absolutely beyond disgusting. No flavor, and if there was a flavor it was chemical - like the pepper sauce was made out of a powder package. The chicken with mustard looks like a meal you cook as a student at university….. dry and without a soul. The steak was a good size and well cooked, but the pepper sauce tasted like dish soap - and not the good kind…. Very very very disappointed given this was a recommendation from our hotel. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to dine there for mains. Pasta only - nothing else.

We had the lasagna, paccheri and pappardelle- they were delicious, cooked to perfection and really well done.

For mains we had the beef filet, the tagliata, the carpaccio and the chicken - all of them were just tasteless and beyond disgusting as I mentioned earlier.

Sides were not a hit at all either….. below average at best… we had the grilled vegetables, which looked sadder than Memorial Day…. And the green salad - was like a bunch of wilted flowers at the end of the summer…. The wine - which was supposed to be a great Tuscan wine- was boiling hot - we had it in ice for 15 minutes to get it to a normal drinking temperature but it was already ruined because it was not stored properly and just didn’t taste that well at all…..

Hands down - one of the worst food experiences I’ve had - proving over and over again that Italian food isn’t that great and just overrated - when it’s mostly tasteless and just not good… This one is my fault- I should’ve done better research- but hope with this review, other people won’t fall into this trap. - like I disappointed my friends on the last night of our...

Not a good experience. We started evening by ordering an expensive bottle of brunello di montalcino and asked waiter what the vintage was? He replied that it was " not by the glass", but” was a bottle”?? No idea on what we asked or idea on what he was doing. Ordered lasagne and it arrived lukewarm to cold, so sent back to be cooked properly, while my wife finished her entree- before my entree was brought back. Ate this alone. Not right. BTW, during this time, Enzo, the owner, never bothered to check on our table-rather visited most other tables of regulars, but ignored us. We were invisible. We finished disappointing evening and asked for check. Our bill was delivered and waiter said.that "this is the wrong check and not your check”, so grabbed this bill and left- as we waited 10 minutes until another check was brought. Simply unacceptable. Paid bill and waiter turned away without any acknowledgement or attempt to rectify our customer service fail. Very poor management and do not recommend. Horrible customer experience. Relying on...
