I usually don't rate but: this place seems a fiat car dressed like a Ferrari. This is constructive criticism, don't take it too personally. It's surprising filtering the low ratings and compare them to my experience in this restaurant. Interestingly how this place has a 4,8 with 1000+ ratings, given the very rare amount of restaurants that reach such consistent and high ratings. My honest feedback - only referring to caprese salad, copetta (bread) and lasagna: it's neither a 1 star nor a 4-5 star. It's lower average. As this place is Not run by Italians but by foreigners, the food doesn't taste authentic and is of rather cheap products (comparable to average super market quality) and sold for higher price. I understand the concept of Osteria, but this doesn't mean that guests are served low quality products and charged as if it were top quality. Guys, come on, just simple things like tomato and bread are low-average, why? Served Tomato salad (caprese) came cold (appeared as if was taken out of the fridge) and has no taste but charged 10€. In other restaurants tomatoes had more taste and flavor. The lasagna and ravioli with spinach and ricotta were as well below average. Ravioli were soaky, had no tasty color and came with too watery sugo. Lasagna tastes basically just flavorless meat and some melted cheese above. The basis is there, but there needs to be more passion to it. While in other Osterias we had tasty olive oil, this place uses average oil that has no rich flavor. The bread seemed dry and tasted just like old bread. In this case why don't you put it on the grill or make it wet and warm it up to recover it? In summary, the overall top-ratings are just as authentic as the food.. for tourists understanding nothing about Italian kitchen, it will still be sufficient. Anyone who has eaten in authentic restaurants here in Firenze will likely see this place as a tourist trap, sorry. But let's be positive, how to improve? +Buy higher quality products or lower your prices +Play Italian music instead of techno +Try to put more amore in your food, this is what is expected - also in an Osteria. Read moreSummary: shocking and uninterested service; steak closer to blue despite us requesting medium rare and a complete disregard for allergies. Avoid!
We’ve had a few steaks at various places during our trip to Florence (partner loves a steak a bit too much!) so we thought we knew what to expect going into this 4.7 rated restaurant! To start with, the waiter seemed uninterested and didn’t seem to understand at all, which is fair enough, I guess not everyone speaks English perfectly and nor would I expect, but there was no effort to bridge the gap and understand us properly. He was very dismissive. We informed him of our allergies, including to nuts and raw tomatoes. Despite nodding and apparently noting it down, they then brought us a complimentary starter of tomatoes on toast!! That sure put us at ease! He then brought us out the raw steak that we had ordered so we could review it. He informed us it was 1.5kg instead of the 1.2kg we had asked for, we pushed back and said we want it smaller but he was quite insistent that they cannot do it. We probably should have just left at this point but we stupidly stuck it out! This is when the steak then came, and clearly the request of medium rare didn’t get sent to the chef either as this was essentially blue. They argued that this is simply how they do it in Florence, but we requested medium rare, not blue and have had no issues in previous restaurants! On top of this, the steak wasn’t even a good cut, it was stringy and had no depth or flavour. When we debated how well cooked it was, they insinuated we should have requested it to be cooked more, but it was already chopped up as they do it here so I don’t quite know how we would have done that! They did (after some debating) give us the drinks free but all in all, €100+ wasted for a bad cut of near raw meat!

Read moreThis restaurant is right next to a literal garbage bin on the outside the food was cooked well. We wanted a steak house experience and found that the restaurant just tried to upsell everything and while they were very personal, we trying to bleed every dollar out of you. Unfortunately they were not concerned with a fine steak house experience. We wanted a bistecca Florentino which is a t bone firme the traditional white Tuscan cow. It is usually very large and shared with another person. This steakhouse had the steaks there but the steak brought out was not rhetorical steak cooked. We got a sirloin cut not a traditional Bistecca Florentino which is a specific cut and cook. They brought out a steak we checked it and at 1.4 kilos it somehow came out a sirloin cut with about 6 or 7 pieces of meat. It was definitely switched in back. When I called them on it they clearly were uncomfortable and were trying to cover for what happened. This happens in restaurants I understand this. I just haven’t ever gotten caught in this scam. I should have refused the meat the cuts were not the same a shown before and they knew it I don’t blame the servers this was an owner that did this. I do not understand why. We were paying for the steak and there was no reason to not provide us with what we wants. They were trying to say it was cooked on the Florentine style This is bull. Bistecca Florentine is specific so. I would not go here for the traditional experience. I should have known when they said oh the bistecca florentine is polish cows ??????? Everyone has already ordered so we upgraded to Tuscan. The other food was good but sold you want a real steak experience this is not...
