I dont normally write reviews on restaurants, however I had to due to the absolutely horrendous customer service we received while on our first couples trip to Italy. My girlfriend and I had just arrived in Florence after spending 3 wonderful days in Rome. We had a reservation to another restaurant but unfortunately we weren’t able to make the reservation, so we did some research and found Trattoria I Fratellini. When we got there, our server sat us down and almost immediately asked us what we wanted to drink and if we wanted any appetizers, which is fantastic and what we would expect from a restaurant with 4.8 stars. I chose the chicken liver pate but my girlfriend had a difficult time deciding what to start with. Our server whom I don’t remember her name, asked her what she wanted. We said we don’t know can she give us a minute please. She walked away and literally a minute later she came back asking the same question. We said please just give us a few minutes to decide. She looked at my girlfriend I’m disgust and walked away.
Typically when you dine at a restaurant that has really good reviews you would expect top notch service. She didn’t ask us if we needed any help or recommendations, she walked away and I’m not kidding, a minute later she asked what we wanted. My girlfriend and I looked at each other in disbelief, it came off almost as a joke; I.e this isn’t really happening. Each time she asked me a question I responded and she kept asking “huh?” Without making eye contact and acting like we were bothering her at her place of work for taking a few extra minutes to decide. Finally we decided on our appetizer which was the chicken liver pate and a liter of wine for the two of us. I ordered the Florentine steak which was good but albeit overpriced. My girlfriend ordered risotto which literally tasted like it came out of an instant bag of ready to cook risotto, they should be embarrassed as Italians to serve that risotto in their restaurant. She took one bite and said “this tastes like I I could make it at home but this is even worse.” During our meal she never once came over to check on us or ask if we needed anything, refills on water, etc. We saw her walking around to other tables, smiling and being very polite, who were locals or not American as they clearly spoke in other languages. She obviously had a problem with tourists or Americans in general, which to me sounds completely ridiculous as most of the people who are in Florence are tourists, a large part of them being American. Regardless of what country you’re from or what language you speak, you should be treated with respect, patience and kindness. I’d imagine if she were visiting America on vacation, she wouldn’t to be treated the same way.
I’ll never go back to this restaurant when I’m back in Florence and have already told numerous other people in our tour groups not to go here; there are so many great restaurants to eat in Florence, all of which have had great food and much better...
Read moreThe place was recommended by the hotel and it was our first day in Florence. Extremely hungry so decided to try their steak.
I personally drink soft drinks such as coca cola or pepsi with any meat or chicken dish. However they said they dont serve it. Its fine cuz its the restaurant's style however I felt that i wont enjot the meal and ill have difficulty eating it.
We ordered rib eye steak and we realised the lady forgot to ask us if we want it medium or well done.
Me and my husband eat it well done and cant eat it otherwise. We asked her after she took the meat to be cooked that we want it well done. She said its not possible and she cant help us with it. It has to be medium and not even medium well.. i told her i wont be able to eat any kind of raw meat she said she cant help me. She said she will bring it medium and if i couldnt eat it. She will cook it more. As expected, i couldnt eat the kind of raw meat and she took it to cook it again but she returned it as if it wasnt cooked. We paid 45€ + for a meal that we didnt enjoy. The lady didnt accomodate my preference of how i eat meat. Definitely not...
Read moreOur worst dining experience we've had during our stay, mostly due to poor service. We were seated close to the kitchen, with no chair at our table which we had to ask for - a little slip from the staff, it happens. The newly assigned chair was right in front of the AC though and was extremely unpleasant - maybe thats why there was no chair there to begin with? Anyway, my partner moved to an awkward angle to the side of our table. The server dropped off a bag of something at our table in passing - without looking at us or saying anything - turned out it was a bit of bread. At this point we were getting strong hints this place was going to be leagues worse than what we got used to during our stay at Florence. We got the florentine steak and some pasta, steak arrived extremely fast. Got our drinks mixed up - fixed quickly. Steak was ok, very sinew-y at places. Pasta was mediocre. Tiramisu was ok. We were supposed to have 20% off with our reservation but they...
