Visited in March 2013 - Just six minutes’ walk from the Duomo, this San Lorenzo trattoria is a reliable option if you find yourself stuck for dinner nearby (book ahead, it fills up fast). Seasonal produce drives the menu: young artichokes, sliced fine with olive oil and pecorino romano, were the perfect spring starter (8.5/10). A grilled loin of pork with roasted potatoes followed - pink, tender, and simply seasoned, with potatoes caramelised at the edges and scented with rosemary (7/10). Tiramisu closed the meal: light and creamy, though it needed a stronger espresso backbone for balance (7/10). Honest cucina casalinga with attentive service and solid execution.

Very strange feelings about the place. The waitress was either rude or didn’t speak English well, but when we came, they didn’t try to nicely accommodate. Didn’t bring olive oil and bread, but for other tables there were. Idk if it’s act of another waitresses or needed to ask? But come on, it’s normal should be. Then the bread was so old when we got it. Prices are really high but as everywhere in Italy in summer…. Cnoghi were ok, meat fillet was soft but no taste. Tiramisu ok, not wow, a bit too sweet. Bill fro two dishes and draft mad water- 66 euro!!! It’s too much!!

Near the Cappelle Medicee in central Florence so it's very crowded with we tourists, but even though we sat outside in the plaza, we were separated from the people in a nice way. Very good pastas like ravioli and lasagna. Roasted pork was good too. I was a little disappointed in the Tuscan signature Bistecca Fiorentina - the meat was good and cooked a nice rare but the crust just wasn't there (not hot enough of a grill.) Roasted potatoes were an outstanding side. Good value especially considering where you are. They were busy but service was good too.

HUGE TOURIST TRAP WITH MOODY SEEVICE. We came there cause we were tired and hungry. Saw that the place was deserted after 7 o'clock which was a red flag considering the location. The lady that works there was a bit hostile, asking if we are here to drink. I said we also want to eat then she said "oh, ok". We sat outside and ordered "caccio e pepe" and some "spinach ravioli". The ravioli tasted exactly like the supermarket frozen section version only with more oil than I would ever put on food. I guess because they have tried to make the taste go into all of the the dish or something. The other pasta, which had ricotta was as salty as I was after not being able to eat it. I ate ricotta before and I had caccio e pepe in other places. It is impossible to do such injustice to the Italian cuisine. We didn t feel welcome at all. Long story short: bad food and bad service. I recommend other restaurants. It is a shame because the location is amazing...but the people working there and the other reviews confirm that it is just a tourist trap. Also from what I can gather the owner tends to answer the comments mainly stating that the tourists are the problem. I don t see how that can help in this sort of business. Don't go there. Find something better....

Genuinely the worst meal and experience have ever had. There aren’t enough words to describe how bad everything was from start to finish.

Edit for explanation: we were seated and were not addressed for over 20 minutes to even order water.Once we received our water bottle, it was literally hot, not even room temperature, but HOT. Second, after we had started with our drinks and bread we were TOLD, not asked, to move tables without any explanation, and then when we moved we realized it was to accommodate another table’s steak…they took our table to place a plate on it.

Our main courses were supposed to be braised beef but we received some kind of grey beef drowning in tomato sauce which, I’m sorry to say, was really not good. Maybe it was an off night, but judging by some of the reviews I am not sure…I have never written a review before but I had to say something because we paid really too much money for the food we received and the extremely poor treatment...

The service is very bad. I was with my elderly uncles and a cousin. The waitress was taking our orders. My uncle ordered his dish and asked for olive oil, but my aunt hadn’t heard him. When it was her turn to order, she also asked for olive oil. At the end, the waitress was standing next to me, reviewing all the orders, and she didn’t mention the olive oil (my uncle really wanted it to eat with the bread that had arrived a long time ago but came without salt or oil). So, I politely asked if she could please bring olive oil for my uncle. She immediately responded that it had already been requested three times. I found this unnecessary.

At the end, when I asked for the bill, she told me to go to the counter and ask for it myself. It’s worth noting that I had been to this restaurant earlier in the same week, and the waitress had brought the bill to the table.

Overall, the food is okay, but the service...
