LOOK AT THE PHOTOS OF THE BISTECA SO OVERCOOKED IT COULDN’T BE CONSUMED There are numerous topics to touch on, but the poorly cooked food, wretched service, and limited wine and cocktail menu should have you consider numerous other restaurants in Florence before taking the chance on Konnubio. We ordered the $130 Bisteca steak, which traditionally comes out rare to medium rare. The filet portion of the steak was not just medium well, but WELL DONE…absolutely no pink meat remained. We attempted to get our waitresses attention for more than 25 minutes, but she ignored us. And when she finally came to our table, she stated that she was not the waitress, even though she took the order and brought our drinks. She then tried to state the person who delivered the food from the kitchen was our waitress. One would then expect that individual to come over to apologize, but she never returned to our table…clearly she was not the waitress, and was just the person delivering the food from the kitchen. The potatoes were over cooked while the remainder of the meal was tasty. Unfortunately, the service was so far under par, and left us with no choice, but to leave this review. We traveled to Siena to have another Bisteca steak, to understand the true meaning of what the Florentine style should be, and was blown away by the difference of what we should’ve expected from this supposed Michelin restaurant. While there are multiple issues we had, limited wine menu, cocktails that simply read, “Rum & Coke” or “Moscow Mule” with a staff that didn’t know how to prepare the drinks. Another thing that blew us away was the tap water in pre-used water bottles that they charged 12euro for. It was clear the bottles were reused as the bottles didn’t even have the tops. The entire experience left us totally unimpressed. We had the pleasure of enjoying numerous other Michelin restaurants during our stay in Italy, such as Enoteca Pinchiorri, Borgo San Jacopo and Osterio le Logge, and Konnubio was easily the worst experience of our...
Read moreThis restaurant is a huge disappointment. The food is not ok, definitely overcharged. The hot plates are tepid and the taste is… there is not much taste. The risotto ball from the seafood menu has a very appealing “Volcano and Lava” look, but it has a very hard and firm exterior instead of crispy and crunchy. Not mentioning the spaghetti with no salt, and the ice-cream filled with ice pieces.
What really makes me very uncomfortable is that: we were the first guests arrived that night WITH a reservation. However, a waitress seated us in the worst spot - very tight space between two doors, one leads to the kitchen and toilet, and the other one to another dinning room. This means, people (waiters and other guests) continuously and super closely passing us every 5 seconds through the whole dinner time, bringing the breeze and the tiny “earthquake“ (thanks to the loosen floor). What makes this worse: Another group (also 3 people) came right AFTER us, was seated by the window with a street view and with a romantically decorated leafy wall. The same waitress, during our first plate, came to the table and asked if she could already take the plates away… (Everyone’s plate was just half finished, we sent no signs of finishing with the cutlery…) It seemed that she really wanted us to finish quickly and kicked us out of there…
Therefore, if you still want to try with this restaurant, I would recommend to walk-in directly and say no to this awfully located table and their seafood menu. We understand that Florence is extremely touristic, but this was literally the only bad dinning experience...
Read moreI found the restaurant in a Michelin guide, so was sure it’s going to be a fantastic experience. When I entered, I saw it was almost empty (was around 8:30pm) which was odd for a good place but I still decided to proceed. To say the food was disappointing is to say nothing. Don’t think I’ve eaten more bland food ever. The arancino was borderline inedible (dry rice and the seafood core tasted terrible). The other starter I ordered was cuttlefish. There is like 20 grams of fish there but the worst part is that the tastes don’t add up together, so wasn’t good either. The seaweed sauce tasted like activated charcoal. For main we had confit tuna. Tuna was very overcooked and falling apart. Broccoli was overcooked too which was weird next to raw champignons. The side salad didn’t have any dressing with it which could have been ok if they brought olive oil / balsamic vinegar to dress it myself, however, that didn’t happen either. Another side dish of escarole didn’t taste like anything, just green mush. The service was ok, atmosphere was sad as the place was empty and quiet. Very surprised with the food, it was an extremely...
