Al Mercante Restaurant — Restaurant in Milan

My parents, my husband and I were on a two week trip to Italy with our 5 month old twins. We came to this restaurant because it was right next to our hotel, of course, with our babies, as we did every night for dinner.

Upon arrival, the host told us we could only sit in a certain table (away from other patrons) and that if the babies would not cry that’d be “better” because that would disturb other patrons.

While my husband joked and said they were great babies (which is true), I opted to leave as it is impossible for me to promise that the babies would not cry at all given that they are, after all, babies.

We are very conscious of our kids and would never just let them cry as this is not pleasurable for others NOR US. That said, this was truly unfortunate behavior from the staff. Maybe next time just add a sign that says “no babies allowed” so as to avoid the...

A beautiful and elegant restaurant in the 5 Vie area. The interior design is amazing — stylish yet warm, with rattan chairs and tasteful artwork on the walls. The atmosphere feels refined but comfortable at the same time. The service was excellent — the staff were attentive, polite, and very professional.

The wine list is impressive; we had a lovely Prosecco to start. The food was delicious, with a well-balanced menu — not too large, but with enough variety for everyone to find something they like. Everything we tried was fresh and beautifully presented.

I went to eat at this place with my girlfriend, we looked at the ratings and we were convinced here. We don't drink alcohol, so we bought 2 cokes and grilled beef fillet. my girlfriend only wanted a coke because she doesn't eat meat. I don't know why 2 people were charged under the name of "coperto" because she didn't eat anyway. We came to visit Italy and I don't know why they took this fee.
