GROM — Restaurant in Milan

In short, it is a good ice cream shop. It is a ice cream shop that if you know, you know and you can clearly tell by the queues that it has a good reputation.

More detailed review: The location is great and is right next to three landmarks in Milan so having it conveniently placed massively helps if you plan to visit the Duomo di Milano (cathedral), Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or Teatro alla Scala.

There's a queue outside, and that's due to the reputation it has, and I would say that is a good thing. They do take their time with customers so they don't rush them, which is good. Just make sure you aren't short on time when visiting.

Price is not bad.

Flavours were good but my only issue is that the profiterole flavour was basically the same as normal chocolate flavour. You can try the various flavours if you want. I went with strawberry, profiterole and chocolate flavours for my ice cream and enjoyed them.

Grom has been one of my favourite destinations for authentic gelato in Italy, and I’ve had gelatos is GROM outlets before.

However, this outlet was a bit weird. We ordered an extra large cone, and the guy who took our order didn’t even wait for us to complete what flavours we want to choose. He listened upto three, and went away to get it quickly. Then he used a small scoop to give 4 small scoops (2 scoops of 1 flavour), which didn’t even fill the cone to the brim, let alone flow out. Generally I’ve seen they serve gelato with a spatula, and fill the cone. When I looked at how he was serving others, he was using a spatula only, and the scoop was used for shakes. Then I realised that he intentionally gave us less quantity. Not a very good sign for the brand...

This is by far the worst customer service i’ve seen. It was so bad that the girls there refused to give us their names because they know they messed up. We were a group of 5 people and there was a bit of confusion about the sizes of our cones. After that, we asked if we can split the scoop in two flavors and they said yes ( they probably did not understand ) so when we actually asked for it the girl got so mad and started talking in italian so we don’t understand and started throwing the spoon every time she’s done filling the cone. They did not say any word after that and didn’t give us their names. Nonetheless, the ice cream was good and tasty but the service was so so so bad.
