La Casa Iberica - Colonne di San Lorenzo — Restaurant in Milan

Yesterday, I went to this restaurant with my mother, hoping for a lovely evening out. We chose it for the ambiance: little lights and candles, very romantic and Mediterranean. However, the food we had was disappointing. I ordered a paella, and when I tasted it, it had a strong fried-oil flavor. Most of the rice was dry, and the seafood was not fresh at all and also dry. The only tasty part was the appetizer: traditional Spanish cured meats and gazpacho. As for the drink, the Aperol wasn’t great—too alcoholic for my taste.

Another downside was the seating: the chairs were actually small stools, very uncomfortable and tiring to sit on for longer periods. For people with a larger body frame, they could be quite a problem. Also, the glass containers holding the candles were dirty, which took away from the overall atmosphere. Not the most pleasant thing to look at when you're trying to enjoy your meal.

I gave one star, even though there were some positive aspects, because for me, food comes first—and in that regard, it was...

ESPERIENZA PESSIMA! VERGOGNA. DA NON RIPETERE MAI PIÙ. NON ANDATECI. Sono stata più volte alla casa iberica e non solo in via celestino ma anche in viale premuda e via mercato. In quella di celestino sono stata 4 volte e già la mia penultima esperienza mi aveva lasciata scontenta e turbata visto che ci avevano dato un tavolo, anche se fossimo arrivati senza prenotazione e dopo un'ora (senza precedente avvertimento) hanno tentato di mandarci via perchè era arrivata la prenotazione, di cui non eravamo stati avvertiti; poi abbiamo dovuto aspettare oltre un'ora per riuscire a pagare e hanno pure tentato di aggiungerci dei piatti non ordinati (sia a noi che al tavolo prima). Ma non è stata questa la peggiore esperienza. L'ultima volta sono stata con 10 amici. Avevamo prenotato alle 9.30 pm e non ci hanno fatti sedere fino alle 10.45 pm perche il nostro tavolo era occupato. Dopo aver insistito pesantemente ci hanno dato un tavolo fuori, arrangiato all'ultimo e strettissimo per il numero di persone che eravamo (più stretto dei tavoli che danno solitamente, che non sono mai larghi e spaziosi). Appena seduti il mio piatto era sporco e ho dovuto chiamare il cameriere per 30 minuti oltre 5 volte per farmelo cambiare. Il cibo poi, menù fisso perchè eravamo più di sei persone, arrivava sporadicamente (l'ultima portata è arrivata all'una di notte). Il mio ragazzo ha trovato un capello impanato in una crocchetta e quando ha provato a farsi cambiare il piatto dal cameriere si è dovuto alzare perchè non veniva badato e il cameriere che gli ha cambiato il piatto l'ha guardato scocciato senza nemmeno scusarsi. Non ci sono mai arrivati i bicchieri per l'acqua che ho ordinato quasi una decina di volte a diversi camerieri insieme a 2 bottiglie di acqua di cui me ne è arrivata solo una dopo un'ora passata di insistenti richieste, ma purtroppo questo non è minimamente il peggio! Quasi all'una di notte ci sparecchiano il tavolo, non rendendosi conto che ci mancava ancora una portata che ci è arrivata circa all'una con la tavola gia senza posate, piatti e tovaglioli che non ci hanno mai riportato costringendoci a mangiare carne e patate con le mani. Indecente. Inoltre, mentre servivano questa ultima portata un cameriere ha rovesciato un bicchiere di vino rosso addosso a due miei amici, non scusandosi minimamente e senza mai portare qualcosa per pulirsi, nemmeno un tovagliolo. Siamo riusciti a pagare solo un'ora dopo aver finito la cena, circa alle 2 di notte, e quando abbiamo chiesto uno sconto per le suddette cose che ci erano successe durante tutta la serata, hanno ben pensato di non scusarsi e da un conto di 47€ a persona ce ne hanno fatti pagare 40. Incompetenti, maleducati, servizio pessimo e cibo sempre più...

So disappointed of this place. The service is completely inexperienced- only the main waiter (blonde Eastern European guy) knew what he was doing and had experience as a waiter. The rest - absolutely horrible. They need to be trained ASAP.

The food is fine, for the prices it is good. However this gets overshadowed when we had to wait for 1 hour for our food to come, 40 minutes for our wine bottle to be served, and asking over 10 times for the bill.

On the weekend there are only students in the restaurant (like us), and it is a fun atmosphere. However, there is not enough staff for the amount of people. Toilets are disgusting, not cleaned at all during the evening. The seats outside are very uncomfortable.

The manager needs to get a grip of this place and train the staff immediately - this place...
