I loved this place! FOOD: I tried two pastas, their ravioli and the carbonara. The ravioli were really good but the carbonara was INCREDIBLE! The portion is very generous so you can easily share one plate of pasta between two people. I also tried their cotoletta milanese (veal milanese) and it was very food. For dessert, tried a mascarpone and strawberry cake/tart which was pretty good too. My favorite thing here was definitively the carbonara! YUMMY! ATMOSPHERE: It felt very authentic. Everyone in the restaurant I could see or hear was speaking Italian which is exactly what I like when going to Italy. Good, not super touristy places are filled with Italians, not tourists. I went on a Wednesday night and it was packed! Like in many places in the city (and Italy) it is better if you call and try to reserve before you get there. I'm glad I did because otherwise we wouldn't have had a chance to get in. We were only two people.

Plates (read food portions) shrunken during the years. 👎 Family owned restaurant, famouse for Mussolini quotes on the walls. Restaurant used to be famous for big food portions. It seems that their plates have shrunked during the years. I've been visiting this restaurant since 2016 and can say that the service and quality degradated over time. They used to serve fresh pasta (like 2-3 ravioli) while you are waiting your dish, fresh bread, generous portions of pasta and Cottoleta milanese in big plates. This summer I went for a lunch with a friend who speaks just English and for convenience for the first time we spoke english instead of italian with stuff. As a result we didn't get fresh pasta before our main dish (that used to be served before, like 2-3 ravioli for welcoming guests), the bread was stale, we had to ask for fresh bread, oil, salt and pepper on table. Pasta al ragu was average, but the portion was far away from those generouse portions that I remember from before. Cotoletta Milanese was super thin and dry. Disappointing experience. I tend to ignore recensions that argue how some restaurants are treating bettere locals than foreingers. But in my case eather it was preceisly that or they substituted their business model of big portions of fresh and delicious food with avarage portions and below avarage food. Prices remained the same. Reservation is still required. After this disappointment, we won’t be coming back to this restaurant.

Fantastic place. Food is homemade, simple and delicious. If you want real italian for a good price and a nice genuine portion this is the place. The 80 something year old owner, Oscar, still cooks, serves and will welcome you wearing his camo pants and "Folgore" brigade shirts, yes, he is a former Italian paratrooper from the famous Folgore brigade who fought during the Italian colonial wars. The restaurant is a dedication to the italian colonial era (hence its location within the "african area" of Milan. If you have an issue, and it's probably ignorance, with the historical meaning of this restaurant and its story don't even go. If a picture of Mussolini offends you, and you're that dumb, don't go. Make sure you book way ahead. Place is amazing.

It’s a solid 4 stars, really nice family oriented restaurant. They welcome you with complimentary delicious olives, bread basket and amazing salami. We were lucky to find a table as they’re BUSY! I ordered spaghetti with sea food and it was so delicious and my partner ordered Gnocchi with ragú meat I liked it but he wasn’t a huge fan. I was reading (after we ordered our food) people should order their carbonara and I would say 75% of the orders were carbonara and I saw people were happy when they were eating it so I recommend to order that at least for one person to share. Majority of the dishes come with big portions especially if you’re ordering a pasta dish.

Homely, no frills dining. We came on a Thursday 1pm, no reservations and were immediately ushered into a table for 2 We ordered Spaghetti fruit de mare Tagliatelle Oscar SFDM 7/10 If you’re a fan of tomato based pastas, this is for you. Plump cherry tomatoes amidst a medley of seafood. Cooked in a hearty, rich manner with spaghetti that is al dente, my only complain is that the seafood wasn’t that fresh and possibly frozen ? TO 7/10 Can’t go wrong with their classic pink sauce pasta with cheese & spinach. Portion was huge and could possibly be shared by 2. Good but not the best Perhaps we should have went with the crowd favourite (carbonara)

We looked this place up and found it on the map close to our hotel. Hip spot with locals and visitors eating together. It was strange that there was no music playing inside, so it was oddly quiet with just the low murmurs of conversation when we walked in. (Two old men came through the restaurant playing trombone and accordion to spice things up later on.😊) We were seated at 7:30 on a Monday with no reservations upon entering the door. Service was prompt and deadpan. The food was tasty and well-prepared. The Risotto Milanese was decadent and guilt-inducing. We also enjoyed the Fritto Misto and Spinach Aglio e Olio. Thank you Oscar!
