We had been walking around, looking for somewhere to eat lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We chose this restaurant because they had more menu options than the place across the street. They also had a 4.1 rating, which seemed to mean it would be a decent restaurant.
Sitting down it took a little while to get a waiter to get our drink order. It was a bit busy as it was lunch time, but there were about 4 or 5 waiters around.
A man came to take our order, I'm assuming it was the owner as he wasn't in a uniform. He seemed very distracted while asking for our orders. My husband and I ordered pasta (two different dishes, because the menu had lots of options!).
My father and his wife started to order, two different risotto dishes, and the man was upset that we dared to order four different meals! Can you imagine...four people wanting four different things?! My father, in Italian, asked why this was an issue as we are paying customers. The man told him to calm down.
The table next to us also had issues waiting forever for their meals and their waiter seemed to also be giving them attitude.
Every time we asked for anything, because we were waiting so long, and because we wanted more water, the person we asked would just ask another staff member to do it.
I don't know if it's because we were tourists, but if you're going to own or work in a restaurant, in a tourist area, you would imagine that this is the customer you will get. If you don't want to serve four different meals to customers, I suggest you limit the options on your menu.
The food was okay...but definitely nothing you can't get at any of the other restaurants on the street. At least we have a good...
Read moreEvery time I visit Napoli, I am passing by this pizzeria, maybe even I had some coffee there once, because the location is really good - on the way to metro and to the castle. So, with the last visit of the city with my friend, we decided to catch fast lunch in this nice place. As we were not hungry, we ordered one pizza and asked for a tea kettle with 2 cups. The waiter brought 2 rather cheap tea bags and ...a half of tea pot of hot water. Ok, I understood that they didn't understand my idea and want us to pay for 2 teas, ok, no problem. But when we asked more water, the waiter was grumbling something about us to a bartender. It was not pleasant, we look as strangers but I can understand Italian! So, to cut the long story short, we were supposed to pay 6 euro for 2 cheap tea bags, 2! sache of sugar and a little bit of hot water. Ok, then we got more water, then I had to ask sugar! I was given 1 with such words as if I asked 1 kg for taking it home!. When we ordered a roma baba (ok but not fresh one), we waited for 10 min in the time when the restaurant was not really busy and our waiter was walking around with no rush, drinking water and chatting to another workers. When we were annoyed by this "service", he was sarcastic about our "bus". The service and especially treatment of guests were the worst for my 2 years of living in Italy. But!! The pizza was great, but I cannot...
Read moreI'm going to say this place is mediocre, hedging towards good. The food is good. Especially for the price one pays, I'm inclined to give the food a solid grade of b. We both had pizzas which were very good for the afternoon.
The service however, is another issue. After being invited to sit down we sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually I flagged the waiter who brought over another waiter. Who decided to take our order. As a woman walked out of the restaurant, he stopped in the middle of taking our water to put his hand along her cheek and say something to her. She stepped away he moved towards her (keep in mind this guy still hasn't taken our complete order yet.) He talked to her, they both exchanged some words which appeared to be almost but not quite intimate.
Okay, I got it, this is Italy. And the waiter looks to be in his late '20s. But still, it's been 20 minutes and no one's even taking our order. Eventually he took the order. Another 20 minutes later our food appeared. He didn't do much more than stand at the table with it. I literally had to take the food out of his hands and bring it down to the table. He did make time, however, to chat with friends up and down the street. You can't make this stuff up. It's like having a comedy show.
Anyway, the conclusion is that the food is good. The service is not. But pretty well appears good food is just about...
