A true gem in Naples! I travelled solo, and I researched a lot of hotels and in the Naples area and this unique luxurious boutique hotel ticked all the boxes, importantly safety as a solo female traveller. It ticked all the boxes, I genuinely could not fault a thing! Everything I needed was in the room and hotel. It was clean, a lovely well-appointed room, tea/coffee maker with cups and spoons and amenities, hair dryer, toiletries, air conditioning that worked perfectly, comfortable bed(they use Hastens beds/mattresses well known for comfort). They have an excellent buffet breakfast, wholesome and a variety of hot and cold choices, served on the rooftop with excellent views of Mount Vesuvius, the port, right up to the monastery Certosa di San Martibo on Vomero Hill. Alsedea and Salvadore were two lovely and courteous staff that served breakfast and coffee with a smile. They remembered details too which was impressive! They also have a jacuzzi on the rooftop too which is enjoyable at the end of a full day of sight seeing. The hotel is very central, convenient, and on a safe, well-lit, surrounded by restaurants and cafes, but not too crowded, Piazza Municipio square. The Muncipio Metro is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel too. The staff always make the stay that much more better and they excelled here! Isra, Francesco, and Andrea were always there to assist, suggest, recommend, and care for the guests. They even organised a packed breakfast for me when I had an early morning.

Pretty good. Very central. Easy elevator. Decent breakfast included. Lady working breakfast was great and works hard. Room was comfy and roomy and updated. Floor creaked a bit from cheap fake hardwood vinyl floor. Shower was nice but didn’t drain well and backed up a lot. Water pressure was amazing probably leading to shower issue. Kinda noisy outside but city quiets down by sleep time and every quiet while we slept till 7am. Amazing security safe style doors to room. Not sure what this about but liked it. Front desk people held our bags for a few hours after checkout. The listing said they can valet and is is totally not true. We tried to drive to hotel to drop off bags and it was terrible. Easily the worst driving experience for us and we’ve been to many third world countries. Do not try to drive to this hotel. You won’t be happy and will not be able to reach it. We totally missed the balcony on roof and view. No one told us about it :( Bring a power adapter if you are from America. We were happy and would stay here again.

Quiet yet centrally located, with friendly, accommodating staff. It is located at the top of a building that also has other uses. I had to leave early (7:15) on all the days of my stay, missing breakfast which starts at 7:30, but the staff went out of their way to accommodate me with a breakfast basket the night before and actually got an espresso and croissant to me before I left one morning. Bed was turned every night while I was out to dinner, and a small pastry was left as a "before bedtime" treat. The room is very comfortable, but the shower stall was a little cramped and although the water volume/pressure was ideal, the small "tub" would fill up quickly because it could not drain fast enough.

We stayed at La Ciliegina for nine nights in March. The hotel is perfectly located between the 'Monumental District' (Castel Nuovo, Teatro San Carlo, Palazzo Royale, Piazza del Plebiscito, etc.), Via Toledo and the Centro Storico. The Municipio metro stop is a two minutes' walk away.

The hotel itself is small - only 14 rooms on the 3rd floor (4th American) of an office building. Our room was generously sized and spotlessly clean. Beds featured first-class Swedish mattresses, excellent sheets, pillows and light cotton quilts. There were remote-control operated skylights/ window shades which were perfect for light and ventilation. Also, the room was extremely quiet.

The front desk staff was excellent, attentive, friendly, helpful. They had arranged for a car to meet us at the Naples railroad station when we arrived. When we checked in we were given a folder with very helpful suggestions of sights, excursions, restaurants, activities we might enjoy during our stay: the suggestions were made on the basis of a brief questionnaire we filled out a couple of weeks before arriving in Naples. Restaurant recommendations were superb.

The staff was also excellent at problem-solving: we had a laundry issue and needed to get some things cleaned in short order, We were promised that if we left our laundry items off in the morning we would get them back that afternoon. And that is exactly what happened!

The breakfast room downstairs is a great place to start the day (Roberto Murolo recordings of Neapolitan songs playing softly as background). The array of available self-service items ranged from the healthy (yogurt, fresh fruit) to the sinful (sfogliatelle) with all sorts of meats and cheeses in between. Fresh juice was prepared on the spot as was whatever form of caffeine you desired (i.e., cappuccino, espresso, etc.)

Naples is a fabulous, vibrant, safe and fascinating city and La Ciliegina is the perfect base of operations from which...

This is not a typical hotel, as it is two floors within a residential building. You need to enter off the street and go down an internal alley to find a shared lift i.e. there is no ground floor reception. On the third floor, you will find a welcoming reception desk. Everything has been recently renovated and is bright, clean, spacious and stylish. The bed and linen and bathroom and products are nice and luxurious, and the aircon was excellent. The included breakfast was good (but not great) and the rooftop location for breakfast is lovely. Having said that, the rooftop overall was a bit disappointing. We imagined spending lots of time there enjoying the view and surrounds. The hotel photos give the impression of a large plunge tub and lots of sun lounges. In reality, the tub is small and the area is not particularly appealing to lounge around in. I would have enjoyed the rooftop more at night if they served drinks and nibbles, but the bar/food area was only in use at breakfast time (and we were there in peak season). The staff were nice and helpful, especially in assisting us in dealing with a national train strike affecting our onward travel. Location wise, the hotel is well situated - it is a 2 minute walk to the main street via Toledo, 3 minutes to Galerie D'Italia, and 5 minutes to Castel Nuovo. It is perfectly located for transport - just 3 minutes walk to Municipio metro and less than 10 minutes walk to Beverello port. It is just off the main historic centre of Napoli so you can wander through the nearby lanes and make your way up the hill through the Spanish quarter and an array of cafes and...
