Really disappointed when we visited this restaurant in Naples. We had eaten enough Pizza for a life time and wanted something different so opted for meat and grill opposite the Neptune fountain. Thinking what a prime location for a place to go but the restaurant was dead. We were the only ones for the first half an hour before another couple came in. The waiter was rude and obnoxious and seemed put out that he has to serve people that evening. Totally ignored and us and assumed as "English" tourists we only wanted English food and didn't bother showing us the specials. We were after a nice steak and got recommend an Italian cut of meat that was fatty but delicious? Asked for medium rare, the chef seemed frightened to cool it medium rare and so we had a hot stone on out table to cook it ourselves after it had been dusted in the grill. This was all before the waiter spilt our wine all over the table and quickly grabbed what I can only describe as sugared fruit, a slab of chocolate as an apology. The whole experience was only enjoyable because my partner and I saw the funny side of the whole event and were a little tipsy from the drinks and wine. Such a shame as the restaurant is a lovely inside and in such a great location, upon reading local reviews we realise the place is slowly...
Read moreThe two stars are for the charm offensive. Who buys their dinner by the hectogram? €5.70 per Hg or as I now know is 100g. So as you would image the first thing you would be asked is how many hectograms would you like? A good size steak is around 250g, so you would understand my astonishment when I received a bill for 5 x €30 euros per steak. So out of a bill of €227 €150 of it was for the steaks. I really wouldn't have minded if they were the best steaks I had ever eaten, but they were fatty and horrible which meant I hacked and left a third of it on the plate. €10's worth.
When asked what I thought to the steak I was honest and told the waiter... and wait, his reply was well thats how we eat it here!!
Bad meat is bad meat where ever you eat it and to be deceived about the actual cost by making it look like you are going to get a steak for €5.70 it takes the biscuit.
I was really annoyed but it didn't spoil my holiday it just made me more aware and vigilant else you'll just be ripped off in the most unexpected ways.
:( Very unsatisfied customer who loves...
Read moreThe waiters/owner were lovely, helping me choose what to order and giving me tips about my upcoming visit to Florence. It originally felt like a place that prioritises your experience rather than how much you spend. It was a rather chilled pace service, so if you’re in a rush I’d recommend mentioning it to them before you order. There were crisps with the apéro, and bread with the meal, and it’s the first time I’ve been able to eat a dish with capers in it in years. However was not possible to order an after-meal coffee at 8pm as they’d already cleaned the coffee machine. Lost a star because they seemed to have overcharged me and didn’t provide a detailed receipt. I ordered 2 spritz (€16) the chicken steak (€18), did not get any water, and there was a service charge per head of €3, so it should’ve been €37, but I was charged €41, and I felt too uncomfortable to ask where the €4 had come from. The service did deserve a tip, so between the head charge (which seems custom in Italy), the mystery €4, and a 10% tip, I was sadly out over €10 on...
