This is hands down the best gelato in Palermo. I tried at least one shop a day the whole time we were there and this is the only place I returned to. I've also been to their other outlet but I genuinely think the gelato here is better (even though I'm sure they're batch made in a central kitchen, differences can occur when churning).
I normally go for pistachio to benchmark the quality of gelato, and here it is excellent - not too sweet, with a rich savoury mouthfeel that is typical of pistachio gelatos that do not skimp on the pistachio paste.
It was so good that I even tried other flavours - the dark chocolate is exceptional, as was the lemon sorbet. I didn't care for the watermelon though - i found it too sweet.
The baby size is probably expensive and on the small side - but if you ask me, I'd rather eat less of high-quality gelato than a lot of a bad gelato. Just get the medium, you won't regret it! They also have a limited range of flavours, but I found them almost all...
Read morewe tried pear and lemon sorbet Stracciatella, Gianduja and pistachio. The pear was not edible, it tasted as though the pears were overly ripe when they have been added to the sorbet.
The Stracciatella is average, will not disappoint, but had much better.
Lemon sorbet was sharper and sweet, so this was a good and enjoyable pick on a hot day.
Gianduja, smooth with a good mix of chocolate and hazelnut, highly recommended as it was the best one we tried.
Pistachio, was very good, very natural in taste, however, a little salty for my palate.
W also tried the yellow peach sorbet and I personally did not like it , however, my friend loved it l.
Price was reasonable, however, they offer napkins that seem to be made out of some form of plastic or crepe paper which is no help in cleaning hands or...
Read moreAs a proud Palermitano and a lifelong gelato enthusiast, I was brimming with anticipation after reading Cappadonia's website. Their claims of artisanal mastery and carefully sourced ingredients painted a picture of gelato paradise. Sadly, my visit was a masterclass in disappointment. If these are the creations of "master" artisans, perhaps a career change is in order. The gelato tasted eerily similar to the mass-produced tubs you find in discount supermarkets. The overwhelming sweetness masked any natural flavors, leaving a lingering, artificial aftertaste. Cappadonia, Palermo deserves better than this. We have a rich tradition of gelato-making that you seem to have forgotten. Please, take this feedback to heart and rediscover the true meaning of artisanal gelato. Your customers will...
