Caffè del Kassaro — Restaurant in Palermo

Awful. Avoid.

We were really excited about trying this place as every time we passed, it was completely crowded.

It was busy when 6 of us finally decided to stop in for lunch on a Sat, they said it would be a 10 minute wait.

After half an hour of waiting, we were told the same thing.

We were eventually seated after 50 minutes (statement of fact, not an exaggeration) and ordered. After about another 10 minutes, we were told that many of the items we ordered had run out. Also, we ordered a variety of drinks (soda, beer, wine) which came in waves. The soda came almost immediately, the beer came after another 10 minutes, my wine only came after my pasta had been served.

Our food, when it finally arrived, was not good, it looked as if it had been thrown together; my pasta norma was nothing special and entirely forgettable.

My friend's carbonara had nothing to do with carbonara, it was pasta mixed with a lot of egg and a few slices of bacon (see pics).

I cannot believe that we lost several hours here waiting for below average food and entirely indifferent service.

I would give them half a star for the pizza (which looked good, actually) but can't seem to do so. Also, they didn't ask any of us for a green pass (we ate there in early Feb 2022).

The only good thing abt this coffee shop which i give it 1 star is that it’s cheap for every thing. Average tasted food with bad attitude staffs. It seems like they’re only nice and smile to italians, not foreigners (or only my case i have no clue bc the time we walked in only us r foreigners. Firstly with the woman behind the bar, we asked if we could stay inside to wait until midday for lunch time she just said it closed with a cold face. Then The waitress who served us didnt even smile once. She seemed bothered to repeat bc i didnt understand her english. Then when she brought me the dishes she just threw it heavily on the table, u can’t even do that when u give food to homeless ppl btw. I ordered a “baked wordfish” as the menu but it looks more like fried fish with no taste and cold eggplant for side dish which is the only thing tasting a bit here! Have been there twice. Reaaally tasty food! Big portions and low prices. First time service was supernice! Really nice lady, superquick and friendly. We ate pasta and pizza. Waitress brought cheese for pasta and white bread before food. Second time service was weird, we were sitting inside, no one came for a long time, then went to ask can we order food, and no bread, no cheese for pasta this time, but I asked eventually, waitress brought. Waitress seemed really bored and not really friendly. Food still supeeeergooood (especially pasta with shrimps), and prices are not expensive. Just service- depends who is working there.
