We were ripped of in a rather unpleasant and deliberate fashion. Upon arrival we got asked to relocate from the main street to around the corner. The place was run by husband, wife and son and a few friendly staff. The food was great and the service friendly until we had to pay. We (a couple) had ordered the meat dish for two, a big salad and a beer each. The meet dish for two was advertised on the menu as €12 and the beers 66cl (€2,5) Admittedly this is cheap. They gave us 2 royal plates of meat and two beers (33cl) and didn't give us our salad. Confused at the small beers, 2 plates and no salad we chalked it up to a misunderstanding. We didn't want to create a fuss, so we enjoyed our meals and asked to pay. This had to happen inside, where I was told to pay €40. This seeming incorrect, I asked for the bill. This then got scribbled down by the wife as 2x 15€ ''meat'' €5 ''birre and €5 something unreadable. As politely as I could I mentioned that we had only ordered 1 meat dish for two, why we we even order meat for 4 people?! and that the meat dish was €12 on the menu. But then it became very unpleasant, very quick. Father, mother and son stood around, pulled down their masks and started getting aggressive in Italian, suddenly not understanding a thing I said but making it clear we ate from 2 plates so we should pay for two plates. So I said fine I’ll pay for 2 plates and 2 beers. (this would be €29) But they wouldn’t have it and the discussion escalated such that my girlfriend was getting rather scared. The money wasn't worth the hassle and it was a little frightening so I payed and left. I don’t care about the amount of money, I’m actually quite a big tipper, but being treated so is just really, really unpleasant. After this experience we read up on google and found we were not the only one's this had happend...
Read moreOne and only place of DISRESPECT in Palermo that I’ve been through.
They do not see their customers as human-being but money bags.
It happened this evening.
I just got allured by the smoke and hustling vibe, which made me revoke the planned restaurant. One of the staff kindly advised to choose the menu(So far so good). He kept me waiting for a available table, so I did wait. When a good table became clean, he just hesitated to allow me to seat there, and started to mumble; “the table is reserved”. Suddenly some local paninoteca table got reserved as soon as I came out hahaha. After he talked with other staff. He yelled at me “JUST SIT DOWN!!.” Yes the same guy tried to make me eat here. So I sat, waited for the menu, mixed meat, like 30 minutes. The night gets deeper, I started to be sleepy. Yes, the place was really busy, and I have eaten in Italy for 2 weeks, so I can understand the tardiness. What made me to get out of this place before the dish come out, there were no one to make an eye contact with me. I just stuck in the table for half an hour. Other people on the other table watch me ignored. They really did a great job at ruining my last day in Palermo. If they were so busy to talk to me or cook for me, they should have not persuaded me to try. I am not mad about not being able to taste their food, but furious about...
Read moreA shambles. Stood in line for what seemed like forever. Ordered panelle & crochète sandwich that we never received, after 20+ minutes standing at the counter we left. Locals seem to be able to cut the line and get served food immediately, we were told it’s coming and then ignored which was hilarious as we were planted directly next to the till. Seemed very disorganized and frantic for no reason. We moved down the street and got arancini almost immediately in our hands after asking, I regret that I don’t remember which stall so I could recommend it to you,...
