L'anciova — Restaurant in Palermo

I was there last week with my boyfriend and as an Italian I always love to try Italian restaurants abroad. At first we were very happy with everything, the food the service until one of the Italian men (I think it was one of the bosses) started offending and shaming the foreign waiter in a way that I never seen before. When he noticed me he tried to tell me that they usually joke like that but it was clearly such a disrespectful and discriminating way of talking that I would never ever ever...

Absolutely scandalous. The mussels in the mussel soup were cold while the sauce (not soup) was warm. This means the mussels were precooked and stored cold, instead of being prepared in the soup. I started getting a stuffy nose while eating the dish, which means I was reacting to histamines in the mussels, caused by long storage after cooking. The sardine balls were served fridge cold in a hot sauce, which was strange. The dish was probably microwaved - but not for long enough. I...

This little restaurant accumulates all the essences of Sicily! The man who served us (I think it’s one of the bosses) was very friendly and nice, we enjoyed his service very much!

Not even mention the dishes, everything was bravo, the homemade red wine, mussels soup and of course the octopus salad were all on point😻

I recommend it a lot ! If you want to experience the real Italian/ Sicilian cuisine, don’t skip this restaurant and their wonderful service and cute...
