I received several harassing emails after sharing my honest opinion about this restaurant. I felt compelled to respond to your recent comments regarding my review of your restaurant. While I understand that receiving negative feedback can be disheartening, I must emphasize that your response was unprofessional and inappropriate.
As a restaurant owner, it is essential to treat all customers with respect and professionalism, regardless of their opinions. Resorting to name-calling and questioning the intelligence of those who have negatively reviewed your establishment is not only unbecoming but also reflects poorly on your business.
Customers have the right to express their opinions about their dining experience, and it is your responsibility to listen and address their concerns constructively. Accusing the customer of lying about their feedback and belittling their observations only serves to alienate them further and discourages potential patrons from visiting your restaurant.
Instead of dismissing the customer's complaints about the food and service, it would have been more appropriate to acknowledge their feedback and offer a sincere apology. Every customer's experience matters, and it is vital to handle complaints with empathy and professionalism.
Furthermore, boasting about the historical significance of your restaurant and the quality of your ingredients does not excuse any shortcomings in the overall dining experience. My review focused on the present-day experience, not the historical background of the building.
As a restaurant owner, it is your duty to ensure that all aspects of the dining experience, including food quality, service, and ambiance, meet the expectations of your customers. Rather than engaging in a defensive response, consider using negative feedback as an opportunity for self-improvement and growth.
Remember that customers have a plethora of dining options, and it is the exceptional service and genuine care for their experience that will make them return. Treat each customer with respect, regardless of their opinions, and aim to provide a memorable dining experience for everyone.
UPDATED REVIEW:
The food, though decent, lacked any remarkable flavors and was notably lacking in seasoning, leaving it rather bland. The biggest disappointment was the price-to-quality ratio. The dishes were on the pricier side, yet failed to deliver the level of taste and innovation one would expect at this price point. I was hoping for a more extraordinary culinary adventure, but it fell short of my expectations.
Moreover, the service left much to be desired. The staff seemed overly eager to turn the tables quickly, making us feel rushed to make our selections. This impeded our ability to enjoy a leisurely meal and have a relaxing evening. It's crucial for the staff to strike a balance between prompt service and allowing customers to savor their dining experience.
The ambiance also played a role in our less-than-satisfactory experience. We were seated in a damp and stuffy basement area, which did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere for dining. A more inviting and well-ventilated space would have made a significant difference in our overall enjoyment.
In conclusion, Ristorante Il Giurista had its merits but ultimately fell short in several key areas. The food lacked excitement and seasoning, the prices did not align with the overall dining experience, the service was pushy, and the ambiance was subpar. For these reasons, I am unable to recommend Ristorante Il Giurista for a memorable...
Read moreLee me preface this by saying when I raised my concerns with the maitre’d, our bill was waived and I acknowledge this. Nevertheless, as I honour good experiences with reviews recommending restaurants, I must be equally honest with poor experiences. I have no issue with restaurants permitting entry of dogs. However, when the restaurant itself if enclosed underground, in a fairly small room and the dog in question is rather large, I would expect some discretion to be exercised. In our case, the party plus large dog was seated adjacent to us; neither the wait staff nor the dog’s owners sought to excuse themselves and ask us if this was OK. We asked to be moved and another table was arranged — we really should not have had to ask! Wait staff should be patient and helpful, not agitate to get our order or explain the menu. This is especially the case when the customer has already had a poor introduction. I guess I would have been prepared to ignore the foregoing had we then been served excellent cuisine, but this was not the case: the gnocchi with truffles was just gnocchi with a bland cheese sauce that had shaved truffles; the risotto was salty with a strong red wine flavour (nothing delicate); the deboned chicken steak was simply a seasoned grilled boneless thigh; and the green salad comprised a single type of lettuce (iceberg) that was neither inspiring in flavour nor especially fresh, as many leaves were bruised or yellowing.
I can have a better experience at home, cooking for myself.
I hope ours was a one-off, poor “Monday” lunch experience. But the reality is that restaurants are judged by every meal they serve on any day they are open.
I see no reason to return to...
Read moreThis is really a place you have to go to if you are in Perugia, Italy. One of the most memorable and best meals I’ve had. We spent 2 days in Perugia and ate here on the first day. But it was so good we decided to make a reservation for our second day here as well. The appetisers that we ordered were splendid (tripe, chicken liver and the eggplant) and the truffle pasta was just amazing. We had the truffle gnocchi as well as the truffle taglioini. It was just so so good. The fragrance of the black summer truffle was just so aromatic and the taste of the creamy gnocchi and the truffle butter pasta was delicious. Very well priced dishes as well. The sliced truffle beef was very good as well, I recommend ordering it without the olive oil on top if you are not into the olive oil type of taste, it was still very tasty without it. We also tried the Pork Cheek with mashed potatoes that I unfortunately did not get a photo of but it was also very very good. Apart from food, the service was also very personalised. We had quite liked the tripe appetiser and gave our compliments to the chef. When we asked whether they could make a tripe pasta, they were very accommodating and it ended up tasting fantastic. The waiters were very cheerful and attentive. The restaurant itself is lovely as well with a very calming vibe and atmosphere. This is truly such a lovely restaurant and you should definitely come here if...
