包味鲜 Bao's House Chinese Restaurant Fontana di Trevi — Restaurant in Rome

This appears to be a family owned Chinese restaurant in the heart of Rome. They seem to specialise in bao dishes and dumplings, but also have options for noodles and rice dishes.

The service here puts many cafes and cateries in Rome to shame, simply put excellent service. The food itself, we had the rice noodles and beef soup noodles for lunch. The prices were very cheap compared to other restaurants in the area and the taste was decent as well, overall giving great value.

The rice noodles was the better dish of the two. Overall a good place to stop by for a quick meal. Oh and the staff gave us two fortune cookings after the meal as well, which was a nice touch.

The actual size of the restaurant appeared small at first, but there is much more space that can fit up to 30-40 more people under in the basement, so large groups can book here too...

Food wasn’t good to me but my family enjoyed it. Needs more seasoning and spice. That spicy chicken did not hit at all. It was just bland and had cornstarch glooped sauce. Bao buns and dim sum were a fail. I had to plunge them in chili oil for an ounce of flavor. The fried rice was ok at least, but greasy. I left the restaurant wanting more food, I’m really sorry to say that. The owner seemed really nice and I wonder if it’s just hard to recreate the food because of limited Asian ingredients or maybe NYC Chinese restaurants have forever sealed my taste buds.

The location is definitely convenient, not far from the famous fountain and pantheon. The prices are very reasonable but the portions reflect the price, not so big.

Some of the dishes aren’t authentic Chinese food but what I ordered were pretty good. They have hidden dishes off the menu for example the beans and aubergines.

There are different sauces, soy sauce, vinegar, chilli oil if you want some extra flavour.

The interior of the restaurant is nice, and bright. They have quite some space in the basement. There are some cute decors and wall paintings.
