Located very close to the Manzoni subway station, this Indian restaurant takes you back to India. While I am someone who loves to taste the local cuisine but also miss Indian food whenever I am on international vacation. In our 3 days in Rome, we went for dinner twice in Annapoorna and would again visit whenever I am back in Rome. The food is delicious, the service is good, the ambience is nice and the owners and staff are very welcoming. The owners are also planning to add dosa in their menu which luckily he gave us for tasting at his expense and it was really good. They even gave us free desert on our 1st visit to their restaurant. They don't have omlette in their menu and when I simply asked whether omlette is available , they quickly went to the nearby supermarket, grabbed some eggs and served me an omlette. This is the service for which I may return to this restaurant whenever I am back in Rome and ofcourse for a nice chat...
Read moreI would to give 2 perspects of the food being offered here.
First, if you haven't tried an I dian food before and you are non-indian.. then you may like the food.. because of the less spiciness,
Secondly, as a person of Indian taste, the recepies stands no where close the the original dishes.

For the quantity..it's definitely overpriced for the amount what you pay vs what you get in return.
The physical menu... This can surely be improved to match the vibe. It was just a mere paper in a low quality plastic.
Then for orders.. I didn't understand why there was no coordination among the staffs. For taking 1 order from a table.. 2-3 persons...

On the positive side, we were served some fresh and tasty onion bhajis at the start while waiting. The naan was actually just a thin pizza base rather than a thick fluffy naan. When the chicken curries arrived, the meat looked dark and tasted old, some was not fully cooked through. The mutton curries tasted better, but it was clear the meat was not cooked together with the sauce. The waiting staff were kind and apologetic and did not charge us for the chicken curries. The restaurant could use some background music as you can hear ingredients being chopped in...
