GLOBE & GLASS Review: Café Ginori, Hotel de la Ville, Rome
Rated by Ivy & Gigi Date: March 9th, 2025 Rating: Three Glasses (“Worth the Journey”) When Gigi and I popped into Café Ginori at Hotel de la Ville for breakfast - dressed sharp, of course - this Roman gem didn’t just feed us; it wowed us. Tucked in Rocco Forte’s luxe spot, it’s a morning pick-me-up turned masterpiece, thanks to Caterina and Francesco.
Vibe & Aesthetic: Walking into Café Ginori feels like a cozy Italian hug. Colorful palette inspired by Ginori’s porcelain offer, appointed masterfully vivid, stylish, luxurious. It’s breakfast with a side of Roman charm.
Service Swagger: Caterina, our table hostess, didn’t just wait on us - she made it personal. With a warm smile, she walked us through the menu like a friend, spot-on with every tip. Francesco, the Maestro of Mixology barman, crafted our drinks with a grin and a steady hand - together, they’re a luxe duo. Request Caterina’s section; you won’t regret it. Pray for Francesco’s pour; you will thank us later.
Drink Excellence: Ivy’s Monkey 47 and Tonic was crisp and clean - gin with a punch, tonic bubbling just right, served in a fancy balloon glass that felt special. Gigi’s “Oriente Italiano” was a treat - Aperol with strawberries and cinnamon, Italicus adding a floral twist, spumante fizzing, and Cedrata Tassoni bringing a citrus kick. Francesco nailed it - tasty, velvety and luxe in every sip.
Wow Factor: The food and libations hit all the right notes. Complimentary olives and small bites landed fast - fresh, tasty starters. Ivy’s avocado toast was creamy and piled high on crusty bread, while Gigi’s omelette was fluffy, packed with flavor, and plated on Ginori’s fancy porcelain. Chef Fulvio Pierangelini’s touch shines - luxe breakfast worth the price.
Replay Value: Back tomorrow? Maybe. Café Ginori’s got that special something - consistency’s a lock. It’s for anyone who loves a posh morning done right.
The Verdict: Café Ginori grabs Three Glasses. It’s luxe breakfast at its best - tasty, stylish, memorable. Ivy’s hooked on the G&T; Gigi’s eyeing Francesco’s shaker. Rome’s bustle fades - here’s Italian luxury.

Read moreAs the cafe mosaico inside the hotel was closed that day, I ended up at Cafe Ginori by chance. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I went for breakfast. And there was no one else in the restaurant at that time except me :) I ordered the chef's special choice from the menu, 'maritozza bread, salmon and scrambled eggs with red caviar'. It was really delicious. Although the portions are fine dine’ size :) At the exit, I said something to the gentleman who helped me put on my jacket that, the atmosphere was better than the food. It was just that I didn't use the right English words at that moment. Overall, I really enjoyed both the breakfast and the atmosphere in the restaurant. I hope to come back one day. Or as a guest to that...
