Terrible place !! Tourist trap that you must flee above all. I very rarely leave reviews but I had to save poor innocent souls for ever setting foot in this god forsaken place. We were accosted outside while walking around the plaza and were « charmed » by a smooth talker pretending the place was delicious and every meal home made. How very naive of us to have believed it. One of my worst experience in my whole trip in Rome. I wish I had seen the bad reviews before going in. The fact that someone had to convince people to eat here should have been a red flag from the beginning.
The food was overpriced and disgusting, I ordered a plate of pasta with salmon, and I got a plate of spaghetti full of tomato sauce with a few slices of smoked salmon on top of it.
Now I am not Italian, but I believe pastas with salmon are usually served with cream and not tomato sauce. If they absolutely had to put tomato on it very well but they should have at least marked it on the menu to warn people, but I can assure you that it was not. Being allergic to tomato I had to give it to my mother to eat and had to share her meal with her even though I payed 27€ for the pastas. I asked if it could be changed because of my allergy and they told me that it was my problem and that I should have read the allergens marked on the first page of the menu. Mind you I did, but tomato did not figure on the list as it is not usually considered an allergen. When my mom complained about their omission on the list on my behalf she was attacked for using words in our tongue that she did not know in English or Italian. So I took over arguing with a full grown adult when I’m barely 18 to prevent my mother from being harassed.
And even the pizza and sandwich that the rest of my family took was bad, the sandwiches dry and plain, the pizza completely average and not worth 21€
Moreover we had to wait almost thirsty minutes after being seated for our order to be taken and even longer to be served. A family that came after us got their food before us.
A testament to how bad this place is and that we should have taken as a sign is that a family left right when we arrived, angry because they hadn’t been served after a while. I wish I had followed their lead.
We also asked before being seated if the place had AC because it was extremely hot, they told us that it was the case, obviously it was NOT, it was blistering hot and we were left outside under a pathetic fogger.
Results of this terrible ordeal : 88€ for two bad sandwiches, a pizza and a plate of pasta that wasn’t eaten. We would have eaten better with warmed up pastas from the supermarket and for a far better price.
So please, spare yourself the utter humiliation and waste of time and money that is this pathetic excuse of a restaurant. They spoiled the mood for the rest of our day and gave us a terrible first impression on Italian food. (Experience that was fortunately saved by other restaurants, thank god for cleansing our tongue and minds of this traumatizing place)

Read moreWe are in Rome on a family vacation over Christmas and stopped in for dinner. My pasta’s sauce tasted like it came out of a jar, it was awful. My wife tasted it and agreed. Her pizza was burnt and tasted like it was out of a freeze box. When I expressed our dissatisfaction with both meals to the brunette bespectacled manager/owner(?)/cash register operator who asked us how our meals were, she scoffed at us and told us we “don’t know Italian food”. Haughty and dismissive and inexcusable. Meanwhile, my wife is Italian and her family runs a very successful Italian eatery in New York City... in addition to the bad food and terrible attitude, the place is way, way overpriced.
During the course of our meal, a gentleman entered the establishment and politely asked to use the washroom, he appeared well to do and was well spoken, and he seemed to be another tourist and possibly an American. He seemed to be in some physical distress, perhaps a prostate issue or something. As it was Christmas Eve and there were people milling about everywhere outside, I imagine it must have been difficult for him to simply pee in an alley. The waiter he asked refused to let him use the washroom, claiming it was for customers only. The man responded that he may be a prospective client, but that he would certainly not eat there if that was their attitude. The aforementioned brunette sneered at him as he turned to leave, and saId ‘Arrivederci’ to him as he went out the door. Her tone was mocking. My wife and I were shocked at the treatment of the man. His wife and child were waiting for him outside, and we felt bad for him. And embarrassed also. Not only was our meal overpriced and poor in quality and taste, but the management appears to be misanthropic in nature. If the man had the look of an indigent or drug addict, I could understand their refusal, but he certainly did not seem so to us.
Anyhow, the terrible food and the disdainful and dismissive attitude of the staff left us with a bad taste in our mouth. There are lots of great eateries in Rome. This is not...

We had an unforgettable dining experience at Coffee Domiziano, a charming restaurant and café located right on Piazza Navona with breathtaking views of the Fountain of the Four Rivers. This spot truly captures the heart and soul of Rome — perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy delicious food with an iconic Roman backdrop.
From the moment we sat down, we were treated to outstanding service. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us great recommendations based on what we were in the mood for. He made us feel welcome and relaxed, even though the square was bustling with people.
We started with a Caprese salad featuring fresh mozzarella di bufala, sweet tomatoes, and fragrant basil — simple, classic, and bursting with flavor. We also ordered the Roman-style artichokes (carciofi alla romana), which were tender, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious.
For our main course, we had two authentic Italian pizzas — one traditional Margherita and the other topped with prosciutto and fresh arugula. Both were baked to perfection with thin, crispy crusts and high-quality ingredients. To finish, we were surprised with a complimentary shot of limoncello, which added the perfect sweet, citrusy touch to a wonderful meal.
The real magic of Coffee Domiziano, beyond the food and service, is the location. Sitting outside, looking out at Piazza Navona, watching street artists and the energy of Rome all around — it’s an experience that feels straight out of a movie. This is one of the best places to eat near the Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, or Castel Sant’Angelo. It’s perfect for a romantic lunch, people-watching, or simply soaking in the magic of the historic center of Rome.
If you're searching for a great restaurant with a view in Rome, or a place for Italian pizza, fresh mozzarella, and local Roman specialties, Coffee Domiziano is a must-visit. Whether it’s your first time in the Eternal City or your tenth, this place offers an unforgettable experience you’ll want...
