I highly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I ate here twice. Once when we first arrived in Rome and also as last meal before we departed. On our first day we stumbled in here by chance and the food was delicious. We ordered the Focaccia Bread and it came out hot fresh baked with lightly salted olive oil herb crispy goodness. My wife had the Spaghetti Pomodoro E Basil and I had the Pesto Di Basilico Con Pomodorini Confit Strozzapreti. Both of these were amazing. All the pasta was freshly made and the dishes were served hot from the kitchen. If you are eating pasta in Italy its nice to have fresh pasta and we really appreciated this, but the Pomodoro was simply delicious and after I finished my pesto I helped my wife finish her Pomodoro. This was a wonderful way to start our vacation. The staff was super friendly and you could tell they all had fun at work. We traveled away from Rome for a week but returned for a couple of days before our trip home. On our last day we went to the Jewish Ghetto in Rome and the place we chose to eat at was so bad we paid and left the food uneaten. We had to get that bad taste out of our mouths and Pasta e Vino saved the day. We walked 10 minutes to Pasta e Vino which was packed, but they found us a table for two. We both ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro E Basil and shared an order of Focaccia. Once again, the food was amazing and we finished our meal with a smile. Even though the restaurant was slammed packed the food came out fairly quick and was just as good as our first visit. Thank you so much to the chef and staff for the...
Read moreThe good things about this restaurant that I could comment on is that the price is not bad, the location is great and the portions are pretty big, so if you're looking for those 3 things, then you might find it good. Other than that, we were pretty disappointed: The staff is not the nicest. They seemed super busy and stressed the whole time. I got the feeling the place was understaffed — and that was with the restaurant not even half full. I can't imagine how things must be when the place is packed! We asked for a drink three times, from three different people, and it never made it to our table. The service is quite slow, and one thing we didn’t like was that at the door they recommended several options for one of us who has a food allergy, only to tell us once we were seated that none of those options were actually safe for this person to eat. We would have appreciated it if they had been honest with us upfront. The food was probably the worst we had in the city. I wouldn’t say it was terrible, but the quality definitely left a lot to be desired — the food didn’t seem fresh, and the pasta sauce didn’t taste homemade. I guess we were spoiled by all the delicious and fresh food we’d had elsewhere in the city! Another downside was that the music inside was very loud, making it impossible to have a conversation.
As I mentioned, if you're looking for something cheap, with big portions, in a very central location and you're not too fussed about the rest, give it a shot. Otherwise, I’d try somewhere else — there are plenty of places in Rome with similar prices and much...
Read moreWell, where do I begin with Come 'na Vorta Pasta e Vino - Palombella? I'd love to say it was a charming little slice of Italy, but honestly, the most authentic part of the experience was how baffling the bill was.
Let’s start with the good: the place looks lovely. It’s all rustic charm and warm lighting — the kind of spot that tricks you into thinking you're about to have the meal of your life. Spoiler alert: you're not.
The service? Let’s just say if I wanted to feel invisible, I could’ve stayed home and argued with my toaster. It took an eternity to order, and when we finally did, the staff seemed genuinely surprised we expected actual food to arrive.
As for the food — well, the pasta had the texture of something that had lost the will to live. The sauce was forgettable, which in hindsight might’ve been a blessing. The wine? Served warm enough to make you question whether they'd left it sunbathing out back.
And then came the bill. I genuinely thought they’d accidentally charged us for the table next to ours as well. When I questioned it, I got a shrug so nonchalant it could win awards. Apparently, I’d paid double for the privilege of being ignored and mildly disappointed.
In short: looks great on Instagram, less so on your tastebuds (or your bank statement). Proceed with caution — and maybe bring a snack and...
