The staff was incredibly rude and disrespectful, I could never understand the high Google score. The inside of the place was stuffy and smelled very heavy. I would never recommend you to go to this place deceived by it’s scote, there are dozens of alternative equivalent places around. The owner needs to learn politeness first, they have no idea how to treat the customer. Additional comment: As you can see, the restaurant owner continues his rudeness by accusing the customer of being "insolent" :) We made a reservation based on the menu on Google, but a completely different menu was prepared for December 31st and we were not informed in any way. Their new menu was not hanging at the entrance of the restaurant, so we could not have the New Year's Eve dinner we dreamed of, as there were completely different things on the menu, not the dishes we liked that we saw on the web, and we pointed this out to them. In addition, it was not stated that there was any deposit in any way, we paid for the water we drank and left after their ungracious attitude. However, the gentleman who owns the restaurant is now using the word deposit for the first time in order to blame the customer, and he responds to our comment in English in his own language, we cannot even understand what he is saying :) As far as we have seen in our trip to Italy, Italians are not rude and bullying like the owner of this place, and we would not wish to have such an unpleasant moment on our...

The antipasti were the high point - fabulous crispy bread with rosemary, oil, and sea salt - the best we've had - and some wonderful eggplant, arancini, and caponata - nice punchy flavours. It put us in a very hopeful mood that we were in for a treat but sadly all else was disappointing. I had seared tuna with sesame and orange. Very rubbery -- I think cooked from frozen and not very well or reheated. My partner had saltimbocca which did not thrill him. The side of grilled vegetables was, with the exception of the capsicum, undercooked fibrous and dry - the zucchini really unpleasantly bitter. No oil had been used. The desserts (cassata - not house made by the looks of it) were underwhelming. The waiters were friendly when we first arrived, welcoming and attentive, but considerably less so after that perhaps because they had two big tables to attend to and there were a lot of kids running around. Fair enough but it took four attempts to get their attention to get dessert, and another two to get the bill. This would have been forgiven as we all have busy nights - except when the bill came and we paid by credit card the waiter actually had the nerve to demand a tip for such indifferent service! So we felt we had no choice. (At all other places we have happily tipped without having it squeezed out of us but we've also had much better food and service) Then he didn't even respond to our thank you and goodbye. Worst meal we've had here and won't...

we had such high hopes given other positive reviews but was totally let down but this experience. the waitress that seated us seemed quite unwelcoming. she spent most of the time chatting to the guy at the entrance rather than serving the few people that were in the restaurant.

we received menus but were not told about any specials which were on a board just out of our sight (no - we didn't see them on the way in). which was a shame as the dishes looked good. the starter was nice. the main was ok. i did ask what the baccala came with but wasn't told it had lots of potatoes included. i am guessing that was the purpose of not mentioning it came with potatoes and then suggesting i ordered a side dish of potatoes too. that's clearly not good service. i would not have ordered a side dish otherwise.

the tuna came completely encrusted with poppy seeds (we were expecting a few). which made for unusual eating but tasted ok.

i then ordered the tiramisu for dessert. i was told it was home made. i then found a long hair in it and then some egg shell. i told the waiter what i had found. he thanked me for bringing it to their attention. i didn't hear an apology and it was not removed from the bill.

to add insult to injury we were then asked by the waitress for a tip. she was clearly not happy when we declined due to the food issues. horrible final meal in rome. will not be coming back to this restaurant and cannot recommend to...

Service at Elle Effe was genuinely lovely. Even though our reservation couldn’t be found, the staff quickly accommodated us with no fuss, which made for a warm start to the evening. The pasta dishes were hearty and satisfying. I was glad we skipped appetizers because the portions were generous – so much so that I couldn’t finish my carbonara. The pasta was cooked perfectly, with a creamy, delicious sauce, though a little on the salty side. The guanciale was a real highlight – crisp, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The tiramisu, however, was a bit of a letdown. While it looked appealing and was a good size, the texture was slightly grainy, the sponge was a bit too wet, and the coffee flavor leaned towards bitterness rather than balance. It had hints of freshness but lacked the smooth, traditional feel that makes tiramisu truly special.

Just behind Campo di Fiori, this restaurant has excellent and attentive service with a large menu of starters, pastas, pizzas, and meat and seafood dishes. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty when we arrived at 12:30 on a Friday for lunch and the waitress explained the menu and the specials and gave us suggestions. The swordfish was excellent. It was lightly breaded which gave a rich taste and crunchy texture. The potatoes were roasted perfectly, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The carbonara was also delicious in flavor, though a bit tough to chew. Nonetheless, super creamy. Grilled vegetable were alright, still paired nicely with the rest of the meal. Seriously best service though!!

We had mixed feelings about this restaurant. The service was great from a young waiter that brought us water and the bill, whom was joyful and kind. Our main server was either extremely tired or just very serious and annoyed; he forgot our drinks and we kept asking him for the bill. We ordered pizzas and a salad, and I was disappointed for the first time in Rome about my food. The pizza took a long time to arrive and it had very little toppings, it was an ok Capriciosa pizza. But then we noticed other peoples food, like pasta and fried seafood and it looked delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice, we would like to go back and try other things in the menu but pizza, and hopefully get a less tired server.
