We stood in line for a while, possibly because there were six of us. Out of all the dishes we ordered, only the carbonara was really tasty. The meat dish had barely any meat—just pieces of skin and fat. It was under-seasoned and lacked parmesan. There was no proper draft beer, only bottles, and the same with the lemonade. The tiramisu was decent, but overpriced.
The problems started when we wanted to pay. The person handling the payments inside the restaurant was completely intolerant, impolite, impatient, and very inattentive.
We ended up paying for someone else's table, and when we realized this, that's when the real trouble began. We were handed a bill for the wrong table and asked to pay extra for ours. We paid the additional amount, but we were never given the final receipt for our table. Instead, we received two receipts for different dishes and tables, and the receipts didn’t include all of our orders, making it impossible to split the bill among friends based on what each person ate. We politely asked if they could give us the full receipt for our table, and they just responded "si si" and patted us on the shoulder. Some time passed, and when we asked again, they took one of the receipts from our hands (which wasn’t for our table) and brought back another one, again with dishes and totals that weren’t ours. We pointed out that it wasn’t ours, and they started being rude, insisting that it was ours, that the totals were correct, and that we were bad at math. They told us to just take the receipt and let them work.
Then another waiter came over, started yelling something in Italian and waving his hands, grabbed the two receipts and threw them in the trash. He then brought back other crumpled receipts, again not ours and not for our table, and continued to tell us that we needed to learn math and that everything was correct. This was untrue and completely unacceptable! We do not recommend this place and will never return.
It's sad that there are such people who ruin the impression of beautiful Italy and its wonderful people. (The restaurant Marriucia next door is far better with very...
Read moreAvoid at all costs. Extremely awful experience with their service. We simply requested that they do not sprinkle any parmesan cheese on top of the pasta. The reaction that we received from their angry waiter was that the restaurant has the policy of not changing the dishes. Then he accepted to remove parmesan cheese saying that he will have to fight with the chef in an angry tone. I wanted to make a clarification on the order to make sure that he does not end up serving something wrong; he said it is too late although we did not ask to make a further change, we just wanted to make sure he got our order right. Well, he did not even care to listen. Then we heard him having good chat with other guests who were also asking to remove parmesan cheese, which he had no problem in taking the order. He even asked them about whether they had any allergies, etc. Nothing comparable to the way in which he treated us although my wife is pregnant. While we were waiting for our orders to arrive, we saw that the other tables were served complimentary bread and olive. But the waiter decided to punish us and we were not served any. We did not want to make a fuss about that but it clearly signals a problem with the attitude. What caused us in the end to leave the restaurant was that although at the time of our order we told him specifically that some dishes should come as starters and we want the mains later, he brought everything we ordered altogether at the same time. I asked why he brought everything at the same time. He told me, “ok no problem, I can take it, I can pay your bill and even your hotel”! I don’t understand how he could possibly escalate things to a level that finally became so intolerable. His attitude and language were so rude. We immediately left the restaurant without eating anything there as it became untolerable to stay there although we waited 20 minutes on foot to get a table....
Read moreTourist trap. I wish I canceled my seating at this Cancelleria!!! Hey, at least they are up front with what you should do with your reservation.
Don’t go here unless you speak fluent Italian, otherwise, even if you try to speak Italian, they will discriminate against you. We were seated for over 20 minutes before even getting a menu which we had to ask for. First, thought it was because they were busy, but not true. Servers were socializing with each other, not working. At least three parties were seated after us and immediately given menus and drinks before us. I was ready to walk out but my wife stopped me, my only regret of our entire vacation. Everyone was packed in like sardines in the seating area, you literally had to move your entire table over so the patrons next to you could shimmy through the small space created between tables. Servers bumped into me multiple times without an apology. Food was overly salted. The pasta was well made at least (hence two stars instead of one.) Most expensive meal of our entire vacation, other than a Michelin star restaurant we went to, even though we only had some wine, a single pasta course each and a cafe. Please see attached receipt. They charged us 4 euros for the privilege to be given terrible service. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the poor woman they dressed up in a costume and forced to make pasta in the front window. (Who was sweating and obviously miserable according to my wife.) At the end of the worst meal we had in Italy they had the gaul to solicit for tips and even had a tip jar!!! Please save your money and go to a real restaurant. They actually have another restaurant in Miami, FL. I live in Florida and I will tell everyone who will listen not to support this awful organization.
PS. The “tablecloth” they charge you 4 euro for is paper. (Again, please refer to...
