The atmosphere of the cafe enchants you however we were unfortunate to have experienced some prejudice. We had come in original to order pastries to go since we had a train to catch, but were offered a table. The host at the front said all the tables inside were full and that we would have to sit outside. Which we were fine with even tho it was raining lightly and there was no canopy. After sitting for a few minutes, we noticed another group of tourist sitting across from us, and an Italian couple who was just sat behind us. The rain started to pick up and the Italian couple asked to be seated inside the “fully packed” cafe. The host did not hesitate to take them inside. We noticed a ton of locals being seated inside after just being told we could not. I assume the same happened to the other tourists sitting outside, since it was just us out there. I have no complaints about the pastry’s nor the coffee, it was great and average priced for Romes city center. It was very unfortunate we had to experience this. I understand Italy has had a huge influx of tourism and tourist can be annoying, however I don’t believe that is a reason to treat someone disrespectfully. We travel a lot and always respect the locals and culture. Id say if you are a tourist, give this business a try but don’t be surprised if you experience...
Read moreStay away and if you go do NOT order the Tiramisu! It was our last night in Rome and I wanted to try an Italian dessert. I ordered a Tiramisu and I thought it was kind of stale, even crossed my mind to ask the waitress but I didn't want to be difficult or insulting so I didn't say anything and kept eating it because I believed a nice restaurant like this wouldn't want to poison people. The next day on the way to the airport I felt sick, had shivers, nausea, vomiting and it turned out I had severe food poisoning (salmonella) from it and fainted at the airport right at the gate. The flight crew did not let me fly as they were not comfortable and I was taken by the airport ambulance to their hospital. We had to stay in Rome and additional 2 days so I can recover. We had to find accomidation, a new flight and take additional days off work. The most awful experience me husband and I ever had! Stay away from this place as they value money before...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was too awful to ignore.
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like an inconvenience rather than a guest. They were curt, borderline aggressive, and seemed completely uninterested in basic hospitality. Any questions we asked were met with eye-rolls or blunt, dismissive replies.
As for the food—if you can even call it that—it was abysmal. The eggs were rubbery, overcooked beyond belief, and tasted like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Truly the worst eggs I’ve ever had. The rest of the meal didn’t fare any better: bland, poorly presented, and wildly overpriced for what we received.
I left feeling ripped off, unwelcome, and still hungry. There are too many great cafes out there to waste time or money here. Avoid this place...
