Grand Dragon — Restaurant in Rome

Update: visited the restaurant with friends and ordered a lot. Great service, they speak Italian, Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Chinese chef and everything was made Hong Kong style. Stand outs were the beef noodles, Singapore fried noodles, Cantonese fried rice, ma po tofu, and bbq pork buns. Definitely returning!

Ordered delivery and exceeded expectations. First off portion sizes are larger than other Chinese restaurants in Rome and closer to the platter sizes found internationally. I ordered the pancetta (pork) fried rice, the dry stir fried beef noodles with bean sprouts and green onions, the sweet & sour pork, and the chicken-corn-egg drop soup. All are Cantonese classics and were great in the flavour and format delivered. If I would critique, I'd say that the breading on the pork was a bit too heavy (like they used bread flour instead of rice flour), and the fried rice was a bit dense (like they fried freshly-cooked rice instead of cooled day-old rice). Nevertheless, these are finer points and maybe even related to it being delivery service instead of in-restaurant service. I'd say Grand Dragon hits the mark in reflecting the original Cantonese flavours from the owners' homeland. Definitely, I will order again and make a point to visit when I find the time to...

We had an unforgettable experience at Grand Dragon Restaurant — not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the kindness and care we received were beyond words. During our meal, my husband suddenly felt unwell. We were incredibly fortunate that the owner, Eva, immediately rushed to help us with so much care and concern, and that a doctor dining nearby also stepped in to assist. Thanks to their quick and kind actions, everything turned out fine. We are so grateful for Eva’s support and the help from the doctor — we truly cannot thank them enough.

Aside from this, we also had a wonderful meal — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a lovely place to dine. We highly recommend Grand Dragon Restaurant not just for its amazing food, but also for the genuine kindness and hospitality that makes it truly special. Thank you again to Eva and everyone who helped us — we will always remember...

Food is ok. But the female Chinese servers are very rude and vulgar!!! Due to their misunderstanding of our reservation phone call, the female servers yelled at us when we arrived. At first they threatened that there’s no seat available. They claimed that it was because we didn’t “confirm again” after we made the reservation, so they didn’t actually reserve our table and the “reservation was already full that day”. Then they said there was still a table for us but we should finish dinner at 8pm (we arrived on time at 6:30pm as we reserved in the phone call) ! Ironically, after we finished at around 8:10pm, we saw there were still a lot of seats available-what a joke!!! In addition, the environment of the restaurant is quit dirty. It was definitely the most unpleasant and discomfortable dining experience...
