Coming off a long walk through the ancient Roman ruins there is nothing better than to stop and rest your legs for awhile, Whilst enjoying great food and refreshments. About a 5 minute walk from the Piazza Venezia we found this lovely little restaurant down a small street just off the beating track. On entering we were shown to our seats by a very nice waitress, she sat us down and dressed our table. The room had a good atmosphere about it with traditional music playing in the background and not to busy that we were uncomfortable but we weren't alone either. We ordered a lasagna to share and my goodness was it outstanding, so cheesy and full of layers all containing soft fresh pasta I could have had the full tray. We then moved on to our next course, I ordered the cacio e pepe and my partner ordered the ragu. I believe I may have broken a time record for eating my dish as the rich cheesy texture mixed perfectly with the fresh pasta offered. My partner seemed to enjoy her food aswell as she fought through her fullness to complete as much of her food as she could. Knowing that there is always room for dessert we agreed to share a homemade tiramisu which really was the cherry at the end of a great meal. Service was outstanding and very speedy. Thank you to our waitress Margarite for being a lovely hostess. I will definitely be back here when I...
Read moreDid that sign announcing a 10 Euro lunch deal catch your eye? Well, keep walking.
If you are sitting in the restaurant right now, maybe you should order the pasta.
My 10 Euro deal was actually a 12 Euro deal because I decided to add on a glass of house red wine. It was served in a dirty prosecco glass that had an odd smell to it (see picture); I am not sure if this was an act of disrespectful cost cutting or a long time Italian lunch tradition that I was not aware of. Either way I payed 66% menu price for 30% of the wine.
The bruschetta took an upwards of 35 minutes to come out of the kitchen and it tasted like garlic and other spices were some sort of rare commodity that common restaurants could not afford.
The pizza, like I said, was not good. I would have been better off going to one of those random quick shops with the pizza premade siting in a case. This pizza was edible, but it tasted like it was a boxed frozen pizza from the super market up the road In fact, I would say that a frozen pizza fom the local supermarket would have been a better deal. If the pizza was indeed homemade, the person in the kitchen really needs to reevaluate what they consider good tasting food, or take a PCR Coron test, because it...
Read moreBest restaurant in Italy!
We tried a few other places when we first got to Italy and thought all the hype about Italian food was clearly wrong...until we stumbled across this little gem of a place!
Once we found it we went back every day until we left. The food was amazing (can confirm the arriabata, 4 cheese pizza, meatballs and those little potatoes are all absolutely amazing and you must try one (or all of them)!). The tiramisu was out of this world and the prices are really reasonable. The service from Manuel and team was out of this world, you barely had to look up and they'd make sure you had a fresh drink even when it got really busy. Manuel was so kind and accomodating, anything you want and he was on it, if I was local I could see this place being an extension of home with it's almost family like atmosphere and kindness.
A world away from other places we visited that took 15 minutes just to get you the check.
If your in Rome visit the Colloseum, the Trevi fountain and Grano Trattoria - I'm sure it's one of the 7 wonders of the world and if not it should be!
Thanks for everything Manuel & Team
Love from...
