il Covino — Restaurant in Rome

Not at all tourist friendly. This place was close to where I'm staying so decided to have dinner. Most of the restaurant was empty, but got offered a corner and it took 25 mins or more for even anyone to come by and ask what I wanted. Then another 30 mins or more to get the 3 slices for cheese. As mentioned, ordered cheese platter which was ok not impressive, surprised I've had better Cheese selections elsewhere.

My suggestion is if you don't want tourists on non natives, then just say there is no tables available. I would have genuinely had a way better dinner and time...

We visited this establishment on 9/15/22 and the owner was very rude to us. He was serving other guests different types of wines and when we asked if we could try the same wines he said “No, you cannot”. The other wines that we were “allowed” to try were all not very good and were only IGT quality and were €8 per glass. My husband and I visited Il Convino since this bar was only 2 mins from our accomodation and highly rated. We sat outside the terrace area and loved the relaxing atmosphere. We stayed longer, ate and drank more than expected. The service was excellent- everyone was friendly and welcoming. One of the waiters recommended and helped us choose our wine.
