I have lived in Rome for over a year and this is my favorite wine bar. If you are passionate about wine and high quality food this is the place for you. If you are looking for a cheap, filling, meal with a glass of house wine to wash it down, this is probably not the place for you. The owner, Carla Trimani, creates a menu of interesting and varied dishes of very high quality at an appropriate price point. The portions are not huge by American standards. The “wine by the glass” menu is impressive and, frankly, for the quality of what you are drinking, a great value. Further, you can have sent over to your table any bottle from the Trimani Wine Shop next door, and there is no corkage fee. That alone makes this wine bar a real gem, along with the fact there is no cover charge, or bread charge. The real star of the show is Carla, who seems perpetually present and involved in all that goes on here. She is happy to speak with any patron and discuss food and wine. Further, if want to try half-glasses of wine, customize your menu choice, or ask for something off-menu she is willing to work with you. Don’t be afraid to ask the price of something and don’t hesitate to ask to speak with her if the service is not all you expect. Her English is excellent and her staff also speak English. In scrolling through the reviews I see that more than a few customers seem off-put by prices and portion sizes, especially the cheese and charcuterie boards. I usually ask for a half charcuterie and half cheese board and the charge is 16 euros per person. Again, Carla is willing to customize, and don’t be hesitant to ask what the charge will be. Nobody likes surprises. I firmly believe there is no better place to drink and have a light meal than Trimani wine bar. I am returning to the U.S. soon and I will greatly miss drinking here and discussing wine with Carla. Salud!

This is a definite must. The wine list is huge. Shared with the wine store that they are part of around the corner. Best of all the young wine waiter was able to make an excellent recommendation. He understood our requirements perfectly. The food was also a significant step up from the usual pizza and pasta you’re getting in most restaurants. Some excellent regional specialties from all over Italy. I would highly recommend this place. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Pick your wine from shop next door and have it with the superb food from the bar. The beef, pasta, octopus salad and desserts were all superb! Wash down with Tignanello and Ornellaia and you will be in heaven.

I would like to thank you for your interesting why I gave only 2 stars. There is one of the best wine lists I've ever seen, but food quality is pretty low. I ordered beef tatare and it was without any spices, just raw meet, tasteless. Salami selection was also disappointing, only two of six of them tasted well. And for the end, hospitality was not so much interesting in giving some recomendations, suggestions or any other reaction about me as a guest. The only thing worth going to your bar is wine list. And that is the only reason why I gave to you 2 stars, because without wines, I do not have anything worthly to say. Hope I will be back and see better situation....
