Because our servers were pleasant, ambiance of course is excellent, prices far more reasonable, and drinks quite good, I wanted to give this restaurant higher marks. However; my friend's seafood pasta was just ok (though the pasta was perfectly cooked) and the lamb that accompanied my potatoes was sorely lacking; 85 - 90% of it was bone and fat, and the sauce it was cooked (or perhaps just served in) was intolerably salty. My side salad was forgotten altogether (though it also didn't turn up on the bill) even though it was made a discussion with the pleasant waiter (about correct Italian pronunciation), to whom I may have told about the omission if he'd ever returned to check on us. That said, the wine he suggested tasted nice, and the Amaro, which I knew, was well indeed as expected. It's a shame because I was looking forward to a second visit, but the memory of that lamb will keep me from it. The photo is what was left after all the edible meat was consumed.

Le Grotte: A Roman Masterpiece Le Grotte isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a portal to the heart of Rome, where history, flavor, and passion collide in the most spectacular way. The moment you step inside, you’re transported to an era where food was an art form, and every meal was a celebration. The ambiance? Pure, unfiltered authenticity. Dim lighting, rustic charm, and an atmosphere so rich with character, you half expect a Roman poet to be dining at the next table. And the pasta? My god. Exceptional doesn’t even begin to cover it. Perfectly al dente, bathed in sauces so divine they could make an angel weep. Every bite was a love letter to Italian cuisine, a harmony of flavors so expertly balanced that it felt like a symphony on the palate. Le Grotte isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience, a journey, a revelation. If you want to taste the soul of Rome, this is where you go. Absolutely unforgettable.

Came here tonight to eat after seeing the pretty interior and positive reviews. I was excited to eat here as it was my first time eating in Rome on my own (solo travel). Would try again another time. :) I enjoyed the food and was surprised when the tiramisù came in a little flower pot - very cute. The service was not too bad, somewhat slower than other places but wouldn't say it was terrible at all. Either way, when I was served the waiter was friendly and spoke to me in English which I always appreciate as my Italian is not so good at the moment! Thank you for assisting me tonight. The wine and tiramisù was really nice - would like to try other vegetarian options in the future. Not too expensive in my opinion either which is always a nice surprise.

It was a weird experience. I saw a very nice depiction of fillet steak on the menu, right underneath the meat section. I ordered it by cleary pointing the picture to the waiter. 10 minutes later the waiter came with lamb chops. Instead of sending it back and putting the waiter into an uncomfortable position, I went ahead and tried to eat one of the most elastic and bony lamb chops. I tried to share it with my girl friend and she didnt like it either. She was already disappointed with her pasta and this was a second blow to her. I just wanted to explain the owner of the restaurant that a) menu was misleading and b) lamb chops were not tasteful. When I approached him, he was verbally abusing one of the waiters very rudely. Hearing my initial words of complain he and his partner both attacked on me verbally without any listening. When I tried to finish my words, one of the owners very arrogantly turned his head with a disgustful gesture and went away. The other owner rushed inside to get a bill of items that he ordered that day in an effort to prove me that the meat was ordered on that day whereas I was trying to complain on how it was cooked. Like his partner, this gentleman also cut my words and never let me speak and finally made his final judgement that I was trying to make a scene. We were both appalled by the treatment because I’ve never seen such a rude arrogance. We asked for the bill with an expectation that perhaps they may soften the things by offering a gesture of sending a small piece of desert. Nothing came. The waiter who observed all this show of arrogance brought the bill with a facial expression of apologising on their behalf. My suggestion is that don’t waste your money and time here. The owners are obviously living in their own world without any concern on your thoughts. You may easily end up ruining your night by getting scorned by the arrogant attitudes of the owners. This restaurant is a total disappointment...

I wish I could give this place a 0 star. WORSE SERVICE I EVER HAD, WAITED FOR 1 HR PLUS FOR SOUP AND PIZZA when place was empty , rude waiter. 10/29 our last night in Rome and we were looking for a place to have a nice last dinner (we had a very hungry toddler who only wanted soup). We came across this place and usually I like the check the reviews before even trying a new place, but since my daughter was very hungry I did not mind their 3.8 star on the reviews. We sat down at 7:15pm, the place was EMPTY! They had at the most 4 tables which was very surprising. Plenty of servers and cooks, how do I know? Because they all had a very nice dinner next to my family while we waited 1 hr PLUS for ours. It took them 15 min to get our order, The drink came really fast, thanks! . after 30 min of waiting, I asked the server to at least bring the soup which was for my child, he said “it’s coming now “ we waited more 15 min while they were all eating in front of us and NOTHING !!. We asked for the soup twice and nothing!! After 1 hr plus of waiting we got up and asked to pay for the drink we ordered which was 13 Euros ! The server did not even apologize, took our money and went on to do whatever he was doing. We ran back to the restaurant the been eating for our whole stay in Rome :Taverna Sacchetti - Via della Pineta Sacchetti, 436 a/c, 00168...

Today I faced a racism act from the bold guy on the front (who stand outside of the restaurant “welcoming” people). The story started when I stopped by the restaurant, talking to my wife to see whether to dine in at la grotte restaurant and while looking at the restaurant the bold guy came in outside of the restaurant. We were also planning to go to another place, so we asked him where that place is (it wasn’t even a restaurant, it was a protein store like vitamin shoppe or GMC shops), the guy acted like I never asked him, he looked at my phone to see the place and the address I’m looking at, and turned around like nothing happened, like I never asked him. I was waiting for a minute for an answer because I thought that the guy is trying to find me where the place is, but he never talked to me or at least tell me I DONT KNOW (there is nothing simpler than that), but don’t let me wait and totally ignored me. I felt like this is kind of a discrimination act from him because I don’t look Italian, so we decided not to eat there and find a better place who knows what a customer service is and not only making food...
