This is a beautiful small hotel in central Rome, only a 5 minute walk from both the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain! It's about a half an hour walk to the Colosseum, and is right in the middle of a shopping heaven, with a massive selection of shops all the way from high end designer to middle of the line and cheaper options nearby. There is a stunning shopping mall only a 5 minute walk away, in which most of the shops are luxury. It is a busy and safe area, and the hotel feels very safe. It is in a hotel complex, the door to which is locked in the evening and is opened by ringing the hotels buzzer outside, the staff will then buzz you in and they do so pretty much immediately! We never had any wait. The elevator up to the hotel is quite small, so if you are traveling with large suitcases bare this in mind as several trips may be needed. Once at the entrance there is a second door that staff will buzz you through, adding an extra layer of security. Also as the hotel is quite small I got the sense that the staff know everyone who is staying there, and we were always greeted when we came in!
Speaking of the staff, they are the reason the hotel has such a warm and comfortable atmosphere, they were so polite and friendly, always greeting you with a smile and so helpful and kind! They run their hotel to a very very high standard! Cleanliness was 10/10 throughout the hotel. The decoration is also absolutely beautiful, there is great attention to detail in every inch, including the rooms of course!
The room was stunning, as was the bathroom (which had an excellent bath/shower, with rainforest and power shower features) and I don't think you could ask for more in a hotel room. All the amenities were of high quality, the slippers especially were so comfortable I wore them all the time! And all the decoration and furniture was so high quality the room felt very luxurious and expensive. The beds might be a little hard for some, but it was perfectly comfortable to me and the pillows were very luxurious. Great selection in the mini bar also, and a wide range of channels on the TV! Also the walls have very good sound proofing, like any city, Rome is very loud at times, and there is currently construction work going on nearby, but my sleep was never disturbed! Air conditioning in the room is also excellent, it is an extra €24 (if I remember correctly) to use but that's well worth it.
We had access to the shared terrace (which is open to all guests) from our room, and although it was open to all guests we found it to be very quiet, please don't be afraid to sit out on the terrace if you stay here! It is smoker friendly and you can eat and drink here, and there is an umbrella open during the day for shade. It is hidden from the streets so it feels very private, you could sit out in your pyjamas if you felt like it! Also there are lovely, well cared for flowers and plants all around.
In terms of bars and restaurants nearby, I would highly recommend Bar Frattina, which is literally right around the corner! It's not expensive, the staff and waiters are LOVELY and they got to know us, on our last day they even gave us a free pen
Read moreI booked this hotel for a short stay with my niece for her 12th birthday. The hotel was recently renovated and our room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Hotel is close to the main tourist sites and we didn’t even need to use public transportation during our stay. It is a family run hotel and it shows in the way they treat their guests; all staff members were very kind and quick to respond. Even the 12-year old noted she liked the staff. There’s a nice terrace on the 5th floor which can be accessed after 9:00 a.m. The only unpleasant experience we had and a slight dent in our trip to Rome was a late night private transfer from the airport arranged for us. Having an exhausted 12-year old child in tow, I wanted her to have a seamless experience. I used this service in many countries and this was the first time I did not have a great experience. The hotel arranged the transfer and there was a person at the reception desk waiting for our very late arrival, which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, the driver didn’t have my name displayed, so we couldn’t find him after our arrival. I was surprised to find out the driver was given my phone number and tried to call my phone (that I had silenced to prevent high roaming charges). The hotel is on the 4th ad 5th floor of a building that has a clothing store on the ground level and it’s hard to see the signage at night. When we arrived, our driver stopped the car in front of the building and when we got out, he had no idea where the hotel was. He made us get back to the car and drove us around for about 15-20 mins, until I texted the hotel and they sent me the description of the entrance door. According to the timing of text messages I sent to my family, the 38 minute ride from the airport took almost an hour. When I requested the transfer, I also asked for a receipt. First time ever I had to pay in cash and no receipt was provided. Since it was close to 1:30 am and my niece was literally sleeping on my carry-on bag, I didn’t have the energy and just gave up on that. Unfortunately, even my nice said the whole experience with the driver was scary and made her uncomfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend the hotel, but I wouldn’t opt for private transfer next time and just use FreeNow app to call a taxi. I wish the hotel disclosed the name of the company, because I could review...
Read moreWe have stayed in numerous boutique hotels and so had an expectation of what we were going to get when we arrived. This hotel did not disappoint. The entrance is quirky because the hotel is only situated on the 4th floor of a large building. The hotel is behind a big green door and the only access is by pressing the call bell for the hotel. Day or night, we had no problem entering as there is always someone to answer. Up to the 4th floor by stairs or lift. The hotel itself is well finished, compact and clean. It is situated in a superb location of Rome and so I have no doubt space is premium and what you have, you must pay for. We did not feel this was an expensive hotel, considering the location and quality. The room we had (42) was roomy, it had a king sized bed and more than enough room to move about. Breakfast is a simple but consistently good affair next to reception. Bear in mind though that breakfast is a small meal in Italy and is only meant to be enough to keep you going until you can get a caffeine and pastry fix at the nearest bar. What the hotel offer is more than enough to keep you going until lunch, if you so choose. Staff were really friendly and spoke good English. The two men on the desk that were there during our stay also had a great sense of humour (thanks guys for making our stay even more enjoyable). The terrace is up one floor and we used it a few times in the morning to gauge the weather, or to have a little drink after a long day of sightseeing. There are no services and so you have to bring up anything you might need, but it’s clean, well maintained and pretty. A lovely private outdoor space to spend a bit of time (I imagine in summer this would be amazing). If you are expecting a smart, clean, friendly base where you can rest weary feet, this is the ideal place as the location is enviable. If you are expecting room service, hotel suites, big lobbies and on site bars/restaurants, this is not for you, but you will pay a lot more to get such a...
