This is a great restaurant with traditional dishes (some have an inventive twist though) of the Roman and Central-Italian cuisine. I've been going for over two decades to this local trattoria and I have never been disappointed, nor have the several dozens of people I have sent to the Trattoria Cadorna. Food is excellently prepared and the extremely high quality of the ingredients is noticeable -- the "antipasti", the"burrata", the "coda alla vaccinara", the "rigatoni alla pajata" and the sheep "arrosticini", for instance, are outstanding. Portions are very generous and even wide stomachs will hardly manage more than two courses; prices are fair and the bill won't surprise you negatively. There is a good selection of wines at decent prices; if you fancy a house wine you'll be offered a drinkable one. The service is informal but efficient; Marco, the manager and son of the owner, is brilliant and will offer good recommendation as well as a cheerful attitude. The ambiance is slightly informal, furnished as a pleasant old-fashioned restaurant, with its own elegance. Overall I cannot but recommend the Trattoria Cadorna, where I keep going back at...
Read moreThe waiter was the most ignorant waiter I have ever come across. He clearly ignored us throughout the meal. We requested the wine menu, he never even checked back with us to take the order. He instead chatted to a local with his back turned to us for 20 minutes... After he avoided us again, we had to get up from our table outside and walk in to ask for the bill. He prompted us for the bill twice during the meal as if our presence was such an inconvenience. He wanted us to leave (possibly because my husband made a request regarding a particular dish or because we are Irish tourists as these are the only factors which could have influenced his behaviour him other than just a bad attitude). I see other tourists have had similar experiences...ruined my last evening in Rome! Food is average at best and overpriced for what it is. Much better places in the local area with friendly and efficient staff. Also for the record the manager was present for this, based on this experience it seems only local business is desired/respected at...
Read moreMy tour guide recommended this place and we were looking forward to it. We specifically wanted to get a tripe dish, apparently a Roman delicacy. We ordered parpadella di trippa along with some veal and artichokes. 2 pasta dishes come out and neither of them have tripe. We asked 2 different waiters “trippa?” With our limited Italian. And they both say “si”... eventually I asked to see the menu and the waiter is getting annoyed and keep yelling parpadella! And I respond back “I know what a parpadella is! I’m asking where the tripe I ordered is..” apparently there is a different parpadella dish and he made a mistake. The other pasta dish was also a mistake. What a joke! I was so turned off And we didn’t eat most of the dish. Very salty. The problem wasn’t the pasta dishes that came out wrong. It was the way he was treating us as if we don’t know what we’re talking about. I’m so sad my few dinners in Italy had to go down like this. Don’t go to this place if you want to eat what...
