Fatamorgana — Restaurant in Rome

The best gelatos in Roma and the most flavours too! We have been here three times in the past three days. My kids and husband won’t go anywhere else even though there’s a gelato place every few meters here in the Center! The staff, especially Guilio are amazing. There are way too many flavours for someone as indecisive as me, but G walked me through the different flavours so I wouldn’t go back to my usual flavours (moo milk and peanut/coconut, and carrot cake) and allowed me to taste each one without feeling rushed! This third time I had the walnut with rose flowers and the prince’s kiss. Delicious 👌🫶For only €3 for two flavours in a cone or cup! You can even get free fresh whipped cream on top to balance the sweetness. We might go back tonight since it’s our last night in Roma! Best. Gelati. Ever. The flavour combinations are OUT OF THIS WORLD. I wish we stayed in Rome a bit longer so I could have tried more flavours. Check the photos on this review for examples. The nut butter and sage was one of my personal favourites. The port rum and coffee was a punch in the face of flavour. I don't know how they manage to extract so much flavour from the ingredients they use, some sort of black magic for sure. Each of the multi ingredient flavours managed to showcase each individual ingredient on the palate somehow. And they all paired so well together. You can expect Heston Blumenthal to be deconstruction these gelati and selling them for ten times the price. Stop whatever you are doing now and go get some ice cream...

Stopped by this Fatamorgana location after an evening exploring Trastevere and found out they’re known for their inventive flavors—definitely worth a taste 😋 The shop was crowded and the pace felt rushed, but being able to sample a few flavors while waiting in line made the choice easier (and fun) 🤗

Fatamorgana is a chain with multiple locations across Rome. While I usually prefer smaller, one-off gelaterias, the quality here still stood out. Note: There’s no seating inside, so it’s a true grab-and-go spot. We ended up enjoying ours while wandering the neighborhood...
