Ristorante Il Pozzetto — Restaurant in Rome

Family of 5, very tired after a long walk exploring the Vatican. Perfect local cuisine for a good price. We go in, and the food was below expectations, essentially subpar compared to what we tried earlier in Rome. The food was edible at best.

Server was a very rude woman, but either way we eat and leave very unsatisfied. We spend the remainder of the night exploring Rome.

Wake up at 7 AM the next day to profuse vomiting. Had to vomit 4 times throughout the day, and 2 more times the next. My entire family threw up more than 6 times (each person) during the day, (even soiling the bed on accident), and terrible diarrhea, leading us to contact a doctor immediately. Trust me when I say, I have never been more sick and miserable in my entire life, and worst of all, it was on the vacation of a lifetime.

We ended up getting the dreaded Norovirus, which you get when food is IMPROPERLY HANDLED (read about how this virus works). Symptoms lasted 3 days. It ruined our entire trip to Rome (we were only there for 5 days).

And what do you know, we all vomited the same thing out. The cheese from the pizza and pasta we all shared. I can NEVER look at Italian food the same, thanks to this restaurant. The cuisine I once loved, I find utterly revolting now.

If you want to have a good vacation, DON'T GO HERE. THEY'LL LITERALLY POISON YOU. If I could give negative...

I don’t understand some positive reviews, maybe we experienced wrong chef but food was awful :( I like that staff speaks english, but we were looking forward nice spaghetti carbonara and my husband get spaghetti with scrambled eggs! My pizza caprese was also funny- like cheese pizza with 1 tomatoes cut to 4 huge pieces and piece of mozzarella buffala. What i really dont like, is when they bring u food and after they dissapear and they just let u eat without any concern if you like it or not. I definately dont suggest this place and will never come again. They should never served food from the kitchen when they see such a poor quality. They offered that they will make a new one, but we were already disgusted. But of course, they let us pay a full price :D great job! 40 eur for this ugly...

We ate here on 6th August 2024, just 2 of us although we had previously eaten here a year before when there was 4 of us. Couldn’t wait to get back for the fish starter and this was exactly as we remembered! Beautiful fish coated in batter, served on a bed of lettuce with lemon - absolutely delicious! My friend plumped for the steak, as her main, cooked medium and was melt in the mouth whilst I opted for meatballs in a tomato sauce served with the local pasta! Overall a lovely evening with staff who were attentive and polite and happy to chat over the menu with us, but also happy just to have a chat. Strongly recommend this restaurant, food was freshly cooked to order, wine was excellent, location and staff equally so! Can’t wait to come back the next...
