Unforgettable Carbonara at Pasta Imperiale – Rome’s Hidden Gem!

Pasta Imperiale is a true Roman treasure that redefines pasta perfection. During my visit, I was captivated by the cozy ambiance, which made each dining experience feel special and intimate. Their Spaghetti allá Carbonara is a culinary masterpiece - so exquisite that I returned with friends to savor it again.

The homemade pasta is undoubtedly the star here, offering a taste that’s both authentic and superior in quality. This dish, rich in flavor and cooked to al dente perfection, was hands down the best I had in all of Italy. The fair pricing is just the cherry on top, making Pasta Imperiale a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and affordable Italian dining experience in Rome. A true testament to Italian...

If you’re a true pasta lover, Ristorante Pasta Imperiale is an absolute must-visit. This charming spot specializes in homemade pasta, and every dish is a celebration of authentic Italian flavor and craftsmanship.

Their carbonara is simply outstanding — perfectly creamy, rich, and balanced, with just the right touch of pecorino and guanciale. It’s one of the best you’ll find outside of Rome. And don’t miss the gnocchi — soft, pillowy, and clearly handmade with care, served in sauces that elevate each bite.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff genuinely love what they do, which shines through in both the food and the service.

Whether you’re looking for a comforting meal or a place to impress friends with real Italian taste, Pasta Imperiale...

Love this place. While long past my student days, nice to see at least one pasta shop discounting a euro for the students.

They just do fresh pasta and do it well. No second plate. Portion sizes seem about on par for for the primi plate. Do not go if looking to impress a date unless s/he is a frugal sort -- plates and utensils are disposable (albeit ecologically minded).

They have the standard sauces. I recommend the amaticana. The Bolognese is the light on the sauce style. Tempted to try some others but I really liked the amaticana.

Pasta plus sauce is 7.50 at the time of this review. You can order a large for 2.50 more or a total of 10 euro. There is also a combo option that seems like a good deal if you want both the...

Great pasta and great prices (€7.50). Do yourself a favor and have three of the four Roman pasta here: carbonara, cacio e pepe and amatriciana (sadly don't have grecia). Have them with the spaghetti (alla chitarra) which is homemade thick spaghetti cooked al dente giving a satisfying mouth feel with each bite. My favorite in particular was the amatriciana - it feels like a warm comforting hug late at night from someone who loves you dearly. And always say yes to cheese if they ask for it. Personally I would skip the set meal because the tiramisu is not spectacular. As you can see from my picture, it's not the best example in the coffee doesn't really seep through the biscuits.

This is a fast food pasta joint. For what it is, it is pretty good. All you need to know are two words: carbonara and strozzapreti. The strozzapreti pasta was by far our favorite and paired with the carbonara very well. The carbonara was creamy and delicious. The pork cheek was good, though I would have like more. Was it super traditional? No, but it was still satisfying and delicious. I was not a big fan of the gnocchi. What we make at home is so much better. I was a bit disappointed not he pesto that was lacking flavor—maybe I should not have been alternating bites with the carbonara? Overall, this place was affordable and I would go back for a quick bite.
