I don't write reviews typically, but I felt Terrazza Borghese particularly deserving of one.
I called ahead to check for availability at 1 PM on a Wednesday in August, expecting there to be limited availability, only to find I had almost the entire terrace to myself.
The restaurant has a wonderful view of the Borghese Gardens and Porta Pinciana, but far enough away that there isn't significant road noise.
The price is very reasonable, they offer 20 Euro for a one course meal with complimentary bread, water, and coffee. The bread was not hot, but was very fresh and had definitely been baked that day.
They served the best prosciutto I believe I've had in my life, and a very generous portion of it.
The best part was the service, I had a very polite and attentive waiter named Emilio who was very patient with my Italian, didn't judge me for ordering a Capuccino after 12, and overall excellent.
Everything came very promptly, my only complaint is that my main arrived so quickly I had to abandon my appetiser early.
Overall a great experience, amongst my best in Rome, and a must visit for anyone seeing...
Read moreWe had the worst dinner ever. Disappointed of the century. We ordered a few starters and 2 pastas which left a negative indelible impression of Rome for a lifetime. in all my life I never thought it would be cooked in a restaurant in Rome. the dish was not cooked, it was assembled. Cold, over-salted, in some kind of liquid, and the pieces of guanchale were cold, which made it clear that the dish was assembled. the cheeses in the appetizers were old and not fresh. the view, which everyone admired so much, was covered with some kind of dirty cover, which makes it impossible to admire the view behind a fence made of dirty polyethylene film, heated by the sun, it is only fashionable to imagine what a smell is. the waitress offered to replace the pasta, but they just brought me the same one only warmed up .... not only did the whole evening and my appetite was spoiled, they also included in the bill these pastas that I did not eat. There was also no music, nothing ... silence. very strange sad place. would not recommend...
Read moreI had to review only to keep others from making the same mistake. This place had few reviews, but they were all 5 stars. It's hard to believe. Don't get me wrong, the food is fine and the view is fair--partial view of the treetops of the Borghese gardens and partial industrial view. Maybe you won't be seated next to a smoker. Maybe you won't care. Maybe you want a break from Italian music and long for 80's USA Classic Rock, which is what they play. The staff was very nice, sure, but not super competent. We were literally given 3 different food menus, none of which matched the menu online. Almost no one was there, which can be nice, but it's more of a place where guests at that hotel go for a few minutes for a drink. Someone literally brought her own pizza. We were looking for a good place near the Borghese gardens and this place had the best google reviews. Again, it's not bad, but it's certainly undeserving of that ranking. 3...
