I would like to leave a few sentences about this place. The food is amazing, no questions, the chef did a great job for sure. We’ve been there 2 times and looking forward to our next visit . I would love to note fettuccini with porcini mushrooms and truffles ( if you love mushrooms, this is a must), ravioli with spinach and basil, spaghetti with seafood, veal with mashed potatoes and the tiramisu was out of this world. What I wanted to add, is that our server Alexandro was the great influence on what we ordered. He quickly learned out taste and recommended dishes that we loved the most, even the desert, that I usually never order, regardless of the place. Also, Alexando was very pleasant guy who told us stories and was very friendly overall. We felt welcomed as very important guests. This is priceless. The hospitality of Alexandro stands out . We are coming home soon and will send at least 2 friends to this restaurant as a must visit place. Next time, pretty soon, we will bring our teens as well. Love it, you will not be disappointed at all.
Update : we came back 3 month later , come from the other continent with my friends and our teens. I loved that Alejandro remembered my favorite drink and meal. We have the best service again and the food was excellent as before. We are staying 3 more days and don’t want to research more restaurants as we have tried more dishes and loved them! To be honest, we picked our accommodations to be close by to have dinner at this place. I would recommend to have a reservation for a...
Overall, food was VERY UNDERWHELMING AND FRANKLY DISAPPOINTING for the quality of food available in Rome / Italy. The Spaghetti was very salty and the seafood was not fresh. The Lamb was so dry, it resembled that of jerky meat. The Salad was so bland, it was sort of like one of those boring lunch salads you quickly make at home before rushing to work only to eat it alone at your cubicle. Really sad. Service: Most restaurants would clear your plates when they see them stacked with bones, mussel / clam / shrimp shells but somehow with 2-3 waiters standing next to the table (see below), it takes them a few minutes to catch on that this is proper waiter etiquette. After asking one of the waiters for the bill, he disappears and serves others never to come back. After flagging another waiter who did give us the bill, they ASK YOU FOR A TIP WHEN YOU GET YOUR BILL WITH PRESET OPTIONS OF BETWEEN 10-18%! No where in Italy except for the most TOURIST TRAP of places would this happen. They are hoping that tourists accustomed to the tipping culture in America would unsuspectingly fall victim to this scam. Nice try, 0%! Atmosphere: The space is very cramped and 2-3 waiters would stand behind my chair, so they were constantly shuffling around me and would periodically nudge my chair leg...
Read moreIf a restaurant called That's Amore serves heart-shaped pizza, how can I resist? We started with some house wine and went for the heart-shaped pizza.
We stepped through the cramped, but cozy dining space and there was a lovely charm to the black and white photos on the pale, flowery wallpaper. I was happy to see some satin-y napkins compared to the material that leaves behind fuzzy bits of cotton. Sometimes the little details make a difference. Broccoletti e Salsiccia - mozzarella, broccoli, sausage: I don't recall why we ordered this pizza. Perhaps, it was because we had had so much pizza and pasta that embedding a vegetable into a pizza sounded like a good compromise. The pizza holds its shape very well due to its very crunchy crust. I would have liked it if the pizza was a tad softer, since my jaw got a little tired after all the chewing. The toppings were fun, but without sauce, a little more mozzarella would have helped.
Spaghetti w/ seafood - sauteed mussels, clams, shrimp, squid tossed w/ spaghetti, olive oil, cherry tomatoes, parsley: Very good pasta, but a little dry. There was plenty of seafood, and they tasted sweet and fresh. I enjoyed eating my way through the shellfish massacre, but a little more olive oil would have tied the dish together better.
The food and service were decent. I was happy to leave Rome having tried a heart shaped pizza. Maybe I would have enjoyed my meal more if one of the dishes I ordered was something more sauce-y or...
