I took a few hours to digest (no pun intended) what my experience was like here.
Upon walking in to this restaurant with my girlfriend my gut instantly told me to call an audible and leave. For those who don’t know what audible means, it means to change plans and do something else. The energy of the restaurant was sterile, and I felt like a seal entering an ocean full of sharks ready to scam me. We were greeted with a tasting pour of Prosecco (my guess is they saw the uncertainty on my face so they quickly made me feel welcome). The menu is very large and chaotic. I’ve been in Italy for 2 weeks now. Been staying in Florence and haven’t eaten in the city center once or fallen for a tourist trap. I don’t know why I did here.
We started with the mixed Tuscan started meat and cheese selection. I live in the US and this tasted like it was shipped from the worst supermarket in America. Nothing about the meats were fresh, and there was only a euro sized piece of cheese. Bland bland bland. Zero flavor to any of it.
I then got the spaghetti three tomato sauce with elephant garlic and cheese. First of all, an Italian train station McDonald’s would have served better pasta. This was the most digesting thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Water tomato sauce. The cheese was chalk. I can’t even imagine how a proud Italian would serve that dish and be okay with it. They also advertised “homemade noodles”. They most certainly were not homemade. Also probably shipped from the US and boiled for 2 minutes. It was truly worse than my college food hall pasta. Water and chalk. My girlfriend got a salad and oven roasted potatoes. It’s hard to mess up a salad. They did. The oven roasted potatoes are also a specialty of Florence, but apparently not this place. Disgusting. Unsalted, cardboard texture, hot but raw at the same time.
Oh, and the house red which is a Chianti Classico is 8 euro. A joke. It was vinegar. After all of this trash food I was pleasantly presented the bill - sarcastic. 70 euros for 2 glasses of wine, pasta, salad, and poopy charcuterie board.
don’t waste your time here please. This place deserves to go out of business....
Read moreWe are so glad we went to Casa Tua! To start, the staff were incredible and welcomed us with complimentary Prosecco. In fact, our head waiter tried a glass himself to make sure it was quality, decided it wasn’t, and opened a different bottle for us!
The food was incredible - beautifully plated and sensational in taste. We started with the cacio e Pepe with shrimp and lime. This fun take on a a classic was wonderfully zingy and a bright start to our meal. From there, we also had the pork belly with carrot purée and the stuffed lamb. We spent 16 days in Italy and both my husband and I reminisce on the pork belly being the “best bite” of our trip. It was perfectly crisp yet tender, and had the slightest natural sweetness from the carrots. Once again, the chefs as Casa Tua show that their ingredient pairings are top notch! At the end, our servers graced us with complimentary limoncello.
Casa Tua is a culinary experience you MUST add...
Read moreI have to say I was really disappointed with this place.
I reserved explicitly one specific table, which they confirmed and we did not get. It was so noisy that you could not even speak normal. If I knew that I was not getting this table, I wouldn't even have gone there.
The food took almost 1 hour to arrive. We had to ask twice for it.
The food was no worth the time we waited and the prices you charge. Nothing special as you intend to be.
We went there to celebrate a birthday, so it was supposed to be nice. Could it be worse? Yes!!! I asked for a cake to arrive as a surprise for the birthday, of course you can imagine what happened, no one ever reminded that.
Just don't go there, there are so many other options in the surrounding that you can skip this one...
