We arrived at Foreigner’s Club after being unable to be seated at another restaurant. When we walked into the restaurant, a waiter asked us how many in our party, we answered three. He asked if we had a reservation and we said no (there were many empty tables, however I understand that these may have been reserved, although it was approximately 7:45 which is very early for dinner in Italy) to which he sighed and sarcastically responded “Great”. He then turned and didn’t say a word, so we followed him, he grabbed a chair from a nearby table and dragged it across the floor to a table that we assumed was ours. He didn’t say a word so we sat at the table. This table was only set for two people so we waited for the rest of our cutlery. Another waiter eventually came by and dropped a bowl of bread onto our table without making any eye contact or saying a word. Mind you, we had no smaller plates and did not have a third set of cutlery. The waiter eventually came by with the third set of cutlery, however we were never gives smaller plates to eat the bread, oil, vinegar, salt or pepper, which we noticed the table next to us who has been seated at the same time as us, had promptly received. Another waiter then came by. Who was much more friendly than the others. He took our orders and we waited for our food. We had ordered a starter, three mains and a side dish. Two mains were brought out at the same time as the starter meaning that by the time myself and my partners sister had finished our food, my partner had finished his starter and was waiting for his main. We continued to wait for approximately another 20 minutes, with empty dirty dishes still in front of us, while my partner had still not received his food. Eventually, the waiter came by to take our plates so we notified him that we were still awaiting a dish. We then waited approximately another 10-15 minutes for the dish to arrive. Alongside the service being extremely disappointing, the food was nothing amazing either. The steak that my partner had ordered was supposed to be medium and arrived to him well done, the seafood pasta I had ordered for myself was so salty I could barely finish the dish. All in all, the dining experience was extremely poor, with rude staff and disappointing food, the view from the restaurant could not even make up for it. Unfortunately I will not be returning and would not recommend, a disappointing last night...
Read moreMy new fiancé and I went to this restaurant on our first night in Sorrento around 7:30 pm. We had dinner reservations, unfortunately couldn’t get a table by the water which was fine. We were seated promptly and it didn’t take that long to get our order and drinks in. When we got the food, I got the balsamic filet, and it was terrible. The steak was a grayish color, soggy, appearing more raw (ordered medium), slimy and chewy. I didn’t eat it but it was expected because it seemed more like a place you go to for the view. But the worst most off putting thing was the scammers walking around trying to sell flowers and glowsticks. It made the vibe very uncomfortable and cheap. At first I saw the man placing roses in front of a table of girls nearby. I thought maybe he hands out roses to the women as a nice touch to the restaurant since no servers or staff were appearing to take notice to him or stop him. He came to my table and I felt uncomfortable that he took my wrist and snapped a glowstick bracelet on it. The bracelet leaked out all over my arm. He also handed roses to my fiancé and then proceeded to ask us for money. My fiancé handed him the roses back and said no thank you. He then became annoyed and made a hand gesture and calling him cheap saying “you don’t have money”. It was very rude and ruined the evening. I watched him pressure another table as he handed roses to the women and said “now you pay” making a hand gesture for money. You could tell the table was uncomfortable and didn’t realize he was swindling him and the girls nervously got together cash for the man. The server watched this happen and still said nothing. Now I realized this guy must’ve had permission from the owner to do this or the place didn’t care. What a disappointment. I wouldn’t go back here ever again. Book another restaurant that isn’t a trap for tourist with a cheap and...
Read moreWe visited The Foreigner's Club restaurant for our first meal in Sorrento, the night started off well, the waiters were friendly and the views were absolutely stunning. My partner ordered the ravioli and I ordered the gluten free sea food risotto from the gluten free menu. Our food arrived however 5/10 mins later the waiter came running over to say the risotto WAS NOT gluten free and he said he’d get me a new one. At this point I had EATEN a fair few mouthfuls of the risotto, which as a diagnosed Coeliac of 15 years is the last thing you want at the start of your holiday. When I received the new risotto that they said was newly prepared and was definitely gluten free, I questioned what made the original portion not gluten free. They proceeded to ask the chef who said “all of their risotto is gluten free” The encounter at this restaurant didn’t fill me with confidence and gave me the impression they don’t fully understand allergens. When it came to the bill we were still charged the full amount for the meal which wasn’t cheap, plus an extra charge for it being gluten free. Not only was the meal spoilt by the gluten free scenario but my partners meal was completely cold by the time my replacement portion arrived. When I approached the front of house gentlemen to discuss the bill he was extremely rude and arrogant and proceeded to answer the phone while I was trying to speak to him. I did not deserve to be spoken to the way he spoke to me and nor does anyone else. This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant as a coeliac. The lack of knowledge is totally unacceptable when we are in the 21st century. I would NOT recommend eating at this restaurant if you have an allergy or intolerance, however the cocktails and views...
