Wonderful! .. Go.. Relax..Be Spoilt..Enjoy! My wife and I walked past this restaurant 29.6.23 in the morning in search of “fresh” pasta for a late lunch. So many places are not open all day.. this restaurant is!!! The father greeted us warmly and explained how proud they are to provide freshly baked bread (we saw it mixing) and fresh pasta. We booked for 3pm and on arrival met the Uncle of the business. What a waiter!!! He had an electric smile and we felt there was genuine desire to please the customer .. (not just a false front). He recommended our dishes and they were really tasty. The bread was the best bread we’ve had ever around the world! Previous reviewers on TripAdvisor mention the absence of olive oil at the table. Perhaps the owners take the time to read reviews and address the negatives as Our waiter made a plate of oil salt and pepper for us to dip the bread. Excellent! At one point I dropped my fork and before I could look round for a waiter to ask for a replacement , the Uncle had put it a clean fork on my table. They allowed us to take our time between courses. The son (owner) also came to say hello and wait on our table. He was friendly and informative and hopefully he will grow to have the “natural” rapport his father and uncle have with the customers. It was a wonderful meal.. well done to all! The toilets were spotless and the cleanest we found in the 5 cities we visited in Italy. This restaurant really cares to get...
Read moreThis restaurant has it all: great food, incomparably kind and observant waiters, and a great ambiente. We ate here as a group of 6 consisting of 2 children and four adults. We were treated with the utmost respect, kindness, and courtesy, and all left the place euphoric and fulfilled. Soups, salads, pizzas, risotto - they were all amazingly delicious, and at a cost that easily beats 90% of the local restaurants. The white house wine was very good (considering the price). We even reveived superb limoncello on the house. The kids kept exclaiming that they had never had a better pizza in their lives! When he noticed that our tables were getting crammed, one of the waiters pulled up an empty table to ectend ours with. When one of the kids dropped a fork, a waiter was there in a heartbeat to swap it for a clean one. Oh, and they had a wheelchair-accessible bathroom! Free wi-fi, too. All in all, we couldn't have dreamt of a better place to have had our lunch at. The thrice as expensive restaurant we went to the night previous had terrible, ridiculously overpriced food in a much less comfortable setting and the worst ever service to go with it. We'll gladly return to la Antica Osteria on all future visits to this beautiful city!
PS: All the waiters who served us spoke English, German, and Spanish (in addition do their mother...
Read moreOmg this is the most amazing restaurant. I’m a tourist traveling throughout Italy and the free homemade bread here is out of this world amazing! This restaurant offered focaccia that had herbs baked into the fluffy bread and you could tell there was a perfect ratio of olive oil used to make this since the bread was a tad chewy yet fluffy.
The home made bread was so moist and soft. The outside crust was perfectly baked and crispy, not hard or stale, while the inside of the bread was fluffy, airy and light. I can’t believe these were free!!!!
I ordered the cod mousse as an entree and it was something I was initially apprehensive about tasting since I’ve never tried a fish mousse before. Well I’m happy I took the waiters recommendation because wow! The texture reminded me of a blue crab sushi I once tried in Japan but the flavor was creamy, soft, cod flavorful with naturally sweet undertones. The dish came with a crispy black almost chip and the two textured paired together was amazing.
Service was mind blowing. You could tell the staff was proud of their ingredients and looked forward to explaining their dishes. Almost had a family feel but the restaurant had a classier air to the atmosphere.
Highly highly...
